Coverage across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire
From large town centres to quiet villages, entrances across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire vary a great deal, and the right approach to safety and compliance upgrades varies with them. A surgery door used by patients with walking frames needs different settings from a supermarket entrance, so the engineer looks at the actual door first. The towns we list in this area currently number 7.

What to think about for safety and compliance upgrades in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire
- Programme switches within reach of the public in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire should be key-operated or protected, so the door cannot be left in an unsafe mode by mistake.
- Older shopfronts in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire often have narrow side screens with large gaps beside the sliding leaves. Light curtains or guard screens can protect them without changing the frame.
- Listed buildings and conservation areas in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire may limit visible changes. Slim sensors and discreet guards keep the look of the historic entrance largely unchanged.
- Escape route doors must open, break out or be openable by hand as the fire strategy requires. Check what yours says before choosing which upgrades to make.
- Shared entrances in office blocks need agreement on who pays for upgrades. The inspection report helps landlords and tenants agree the scope before work is ordered.

Standards and rules in Scotland
Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible. BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.
Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.
How it works
- Get in touch. Call, email or use the form with the address and what you have in mind. If you are not sure which type of door suits, describe the entrance and we will suggest the options worth considering.
- Survey and advice. The survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. The engineer checks the site and explains which options suit the entrance, the people using it and the budget, before anything is priced.
- Quote in writing. You receive a fixed, itemised quote for safety and compliance upgrades in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, covering equipment, installation, testing and handover, with the lead time and payment stages set out clearly.
- Install, test, explain. The engineer installs and commissions the door, tests the sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour, and walks you through the controls. The handover pack records what was installed and tested.

Safety and compliance upgrades in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire: questions
Do you need an inspection before upgrading a door in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire?
Not always. If you know what you need, such as a key switch or new signs, we can survey and quote for it directly. For a full picture of the door's risks, a documented safety inspection is the better starting point, and it is a separate service priced before the visit.
What do you charge for safety and compliance upgrades in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire?
Our guide starts from £195 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
How long do upgrades take at premises in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire?
Most single-door upgrades take one visit of a few hours. Parts such as light curtains and battery units are typically 1 to 3 weeks to arrive after the quote is accepted. Larger packages are planned with you so the entrance stays usable wherever possible.
Do you carry out automatic door safety upgrades in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire?
Yes. We quote and manage upgrade work in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, and the fitting is done by specialist automatic door engineers on our behalf. The survey is free, and each upgrade is priced separately on a fixed, itemised quote. After the work you receive a record of each change and its test results.
How are payments structured for work in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire?
Payment stages are set out in the quote before you accept it. Larger or made-to-order jobs may involve a deposit and a balance on completion, while smaller jobs may be invoiced once the work is finished. Nothing is charged for the survey itself, and the terms you accept are the terms that apply.
Will the building stay secure while the entrance is being changed?
We plan to keep the entrance usable or secure throughout. Where a door has to come out, the work is sequenced so the opening is closed up before the engineer leaves, or a temporary door or hoarding is arranged when a longer gap cannot be avoided. How this is handled for your site in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire is agreed before work starts.
Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire?
The person responsible for fire safety under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 for those premises. Scottish guidance allows automatic doors on escape routes only where they fail safely to outward opening or have a monitored fail-safe system that opens them on power failure, sensor failure and fire alarm.
