Coverage across Hampshire
Not every part of Hampshire is easy to reach, and some sites need planning around access, parking or opening hours. We take that into account when arranging automatic door servicing, and the engineer, working under our management, arrives with what the job is likely to need. The towns below, 23 in all, each have their own page, but any address in the area can be covered.
Towns listed in Hampshire: Southampton, Portsmouth, Basingstoke, Gosport, Waterlooville, Farnborough, Eastleigh, Winchester, Havant, Andover, Fareham, Aldershot, Fleet, Totton, Chandler's Ford, New Milton, Bordon, Hythe, Yateley, Alton, Emsworth, Hedge End, Romsey.
What to think about for automatic door servicing in Hampshire
- Business parks and retail parks in Hampshire may have doors owned by the landlord and doors leased with the unit. Check who is responsible for servicing each door before booking.
- Care homes and hospitals in Hampshire often need visits planned around mealtimes, medication rounds and visiting hours, so the door is not out of use at the busiest times.
- Keep the programme switch key and any operator access keys on site. Engineers need them to change modes and test the door properly during the visit.
- Schools and colleges in Hampshire often prefer servicing during holidays or after hours. Plan visits early in the year so they fall when the buildings are quiet.
- Doors on escape routes need their break-out or power-failure opening tested at every service. Tell us which doors serve escape routes so the engineer checks the right functions.

No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend a safety check by a trained engineer at least once a year, and more frequent visits for busy doors. Repairs found during a service are quoted before they are done.
Standards and rules in England
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.
No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.
How it works
- Share the details. Send the address in Hampshire, the door type and make if you know it, and a description or video of the problem. For servicing, tell us how many doors there are and how busy each one is.
- Price confirmed in writing. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends. Some straightforward repairs can be priced in full from photos and the make and model of the door.
- Diagnosis and repair. A specialist engineer attends on the agreed date, finds the cause, repairs or services the door, and tests its operation, sensors and safety functions with reference to BS EN 16005.
- Written record. Each visit ends with a written record for your files. Anything still outstanding, such as parts on order or recommended upgrades, is quoted before any further work is done.
Keep your maintenance records complete. Arrange planned visits for automatic doors in Hampshire, each one priced in advance and documented afterwards.
Automatic door servicing in Hampshire: questions
Will servicing help with our insurer or landlord in Hampshire?
Many insurers and landlords ask for evidence that automatic doors are maintained. A written service report for each door, kept in a logbook or digital folder, is the usual way to show that. If they ask for a risk assessment against BS EN 16005, a safety inspection can be added.
What is the guide price for automatic door servicing in Hampshire?
Our guide starts from £145 excluding VAT (per visit, first door), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £174 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Hampshire, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.
Do you service doors in Hampshire that another company installed?
Yes. We service most powered pedestrian doors, whoever fitted them. The first visit records each door's make, model, condition and any concerns, so later reports can be compared. If parts are no longer made for one of your doors, we let you know early so a replacement can be planned.
Can one contract cover all our buildings in Hampshire and nearby?
Yes. A contract can list every door across your sites, with the visits per year and the price for each door. One schedule and one set of service reports make it easier to keep records complete, and repair visits between services are charged at the contract rates.
Do you offer service contracts in Hampshire?
Yes. A service contract sets out how many visits a year each door receives, what each visit includes and the price, all agreed in writing before you sign. Contracts suit sites with several doors or busy entrances, because visits are planned ahead and the records stay in one place. Contract length and notice terms are shown in the agreement.
How soon can an engineer get to Hampshire?
We do not promise response times. When you book, we give you the earliest date we can offer and confirm it once the price is agreed. If the door is unsafe in the meantime, it is usually best to switch it off or set it to a safe mode, put up a sign and keep people clear of it.
Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Hampshire?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
