Coverage across Warwickshire

Wherever you are in Warwickshire, we need the same three things to get started on automatic door repairs: a short description of the door, a few photos if you have them, and the address. From there we agree the price in writing and book a specialist engineer working under our management. Every town listed below has a page of its own, 7 in total.

What to think about for automatic door repairs in Warwickshire

  • Rule out the simple things. Check whether the door's isolator or fused spur has been switched off, and whether other equipment on the same circuit has also stopped working.
  • Wet and windy weather causes many false openings. Sensors over exposed entrances can react to rain and blowing leaves, and a small change to the detection zone often cures it.
  • Opening hours matter when booking a repair in Warwickshire. If your premises close early or open late, mention it so the engineer can work while the entrance is quiet.
  • Leisure centres, schools and public buildings in Warwickshire may need a contractor induction or permit before work starts. Send any site rules with your booking so the visit can go ahead first time.
  • Shopping parades and business parks in Warwickshire can have restricted parking or loading. Tell us where an engineer can park and unload tools when you book the visit.

Standards and rules in England

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.

No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.

How it works

  1. Explain the problem. Whether the door is stuck, slow, noisy or due its next check, a short description and a few photos tell us which kind of visit to book for automatic door repairs and what to bring.
  2. Visit cost agreed. You get the visit price in writing before we book the engineer. There are no hidden extras: parts and further work are always quoted separately and in advance.
  3. Engineer on site. The engineer inspects the operator, sensors, tracks and leaves, carries out the repair or service, and runs the door through its safety tests before it goes back into use.
  4. Follow-up quoted. You are sent a record of the visit. If something else needs attention, we quote it in writing; for doors on a service plan, the next visit date is noted on the record.

Automatic door repairs in Warwickshire: questions

Is it safe to keep using a faulty automatic door in Warwickshire?

It depends on the fault. A slow or noisy door may be safe to use until the visit, but a door that strikes people, closes unexpectedly or has damaged glass should be switched off and kept clear. If you are unsure, switch it off and use another entrance until an engineer has checked it.

What is the guide price for automatic door repairs in Warwickshire?

Our guide starts from £95 excluding VAT (visit including the first hour), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £114 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Warwickshire, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.

Can you tell me the cost before visiting my premises in Warwickshire?

We always confirm the visit price before attending. For some faults, photos of the door and the operator label let us price the repair itself in advance. Where the cause needs testing on site, parts and extra work are quoted after diagnosis and only go ahead if you agree.

What if my door in Warwickshire cannot be repaired?

If a drive unit is obsolete, or a repair would cost close to a new operator, the engineer explains why. A new drive unit can usually be fitted to the existing frame and leaves, which costs far less than a whole new door. You receive a written quote for that, and whether to go ahead is entirely your choice.

Can visits in Warwickshire be arranged outside working hours?

Yes, where the site needs it. Early-morning, evening and weekend visits can be arranged for shops, surgeries and offices that cannot lose their entrance during the day. Any difference in price for out-of-hours attendance is agreed in writing before the visit is booked, alongside the standard visit price.

Do you leave a written record after each visit in Warwickshire?

Yes. Every visit ends with a written record of what was checked, what was done and anything that still needs attention. For safety inspections you receive a report of the findings and a site-specific risk assessment. Keeping these on file is the usual way to show that a workplace door is maintained and in good working order.

Do businesses in Warwickshire have to fit automatic doors?

No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
