Coverage across Worcestershire

Our coverage of Worcestershire is not tied to a depot or a showroom. Engineers who carry out automatic door repairs for us travel to each site, so a farm shop down a country lane goes through the same process as a city-centre office. Every job is priced in writing before work starts, and the town list below currently numbers 8.

Towns listed in Worcestershire: Worcester, Redditch, Kidderminster, Malvern, Bromsgrove, Evesham, Droitwich Spa, Stourport-on-Severn.

What to think about for automatic door repairs in Worcestershire

  • Older shopfronts in Worcestershire may have automatic doors with discontinued drive units. Ask whether parts are still available before agreeing to a large repair, as a new operator may be better value.
  • Shopping parades and business parks in Worcestershire can have restricted parking or loading. Tell us where an engineer can park and unload tools when you book the visit.
  • Doors knocked by trolleys, pushchairs or deliveries often go out of line. Repeated impacts damage rollers and floor guides, so it helps to know roughly when the fault first appeared.
  • Leisure centres, schools and public buildings in Worcestershire may need a contractor induction or permit before work starts. Send any site rules with your booking so the visit can go ahead first time.
  • For surgeries, clinics and care settings in Worcestershire, a door that will not open can stop wheelchair users getting in. Plan an alternative accessible entrance and clear signs while the repair is arranged.

Standards and rules in England

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.

No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.

How it works

  1. Report the fault or service. Let us know whether the door has failed, is behaving oddly or is simply due a service or safety inspection. A short video of the problem helps the engineer prepare for the visit.
  2. Agree the price first. Before anyone travels to Worcestershire, the visit price is set out in writing. It is based on the door type, the work requested and the location, so you know the cost in advance.
  3. Diagnose, repair, test. On site, the engineer finds the cause and puts it right where the parts are to hand, or completes the planned service. Sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour are checked before the door returns to use.
  4. Paperwork and next steps. A written record of the visit is left with you or sent afterwards. If parts must be ordered or more work is advisable, it is quoted separately and only goes ahead once you accept.

Send us a photo of the faulty door and its operator label in Worcestershire. We will confirm the visit price in writing and offer the earliest engineer visit available.

Automatic door repairs in Worcestershire: questions

Can you repair revolving doors in Worcestershire?

Yes. The engineers we send work on automatic and manual revolving doors as well as sliding and swing doors. Revolving doors have extra safety devices, such as stop buttons and edge sensors, which are all tested after a repair. Parts for some revolving doors take longer to source, so photos of the drive and control panel help us prepare.

What price range should I expect for automatic door repairs in Worcestershire?

Our guide starts from £95 excluding VAT (visit including the first hour), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £114 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Worcestershire, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.

Do you repair automatic doors in Worcestershire?

Yes. We take the booking, agree the price and manage the job, and the visit in Worcestershire is made by a specialist automatic door engineer working under our management. The engineers we send work on sliding, swing, folding and revolving doors from most makers, including doors we did not install. The visit price is confirmed with you in writing before the engineer is booked.

How soon can an engineer get to my door in Worcestershire?

That depends on engineer availability around Worcestershire when you contact us, so we do not promise a time. Tell us whether the door is stuck open, stuck shut or unsafe, and we will tell you the earliest visit we can offer. Meanwhile, set the door to a safe mode and keep people away from the leaves.

Can you take over servicing of doors in Worcestershire from another company?

Yes. Send us the door details and, if you have them, previous service records or inspection reports. The first visit gives a baseline for each door, and its price is agreed in writing beforehand. From then on, records continue in one consistent format, whichever company looked after the doors before.

What happens during a visit in Worcestershire?

The engineer checks how the door is operating, diagnoses the fault or carries out the service, and tests the safety sensors and other functions before leaving. On a service visit that includes cleaning, adjustment and lubrication where needed. Anything that cannot be put right on the visit, or that needs parts, is explained and quoted before further work goes ahead.

Do businesses in Worcestershire have to fit automatic doors?

No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
