Coverage across Gloucestershire
Not every part of Gloucestershire is easy to reach, and some sites need planning around access, parking or opening hours. We take that into account when arranging automatic internal doors, and the engineer, working under our management, arrives with what the job is likely to need. The towns below, 7 in all, each have their own page, but any address in the area can be covered.
Towns listed in Gloucestershire: Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud, Kingswood, Yate, Tewkesbury, Cirencester.
What to think about for automatic internal doors in Gloucestershire
- Measure what passes through the door, not just the door. Beds, hoists, trolleys and catering equipment can need a wider opening than the current door gives.
- Noise matters on wards and in bedrooms. Ask for night settings or quieter operators on doors near where people sleep, and check how loud any electric locks are when they release.
- Care homes in Gloucestershire often have residents with dementia. Think about which doors should open freely and which should be controlled, and agree that as a care decision before choosing controls.
- Doors linked to the fire alarm need a signal from the alarm panel. Allow time for your fire alarm contractor to provide the connection and test it with us.
- Hospitals in Gloucestershire usually have estates teams with their own standards for door widths, controls and fire alarm interfaces. Share those early so the quote matches them.

Standards and rules in England
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which can include altering a physical feature such as a heavy entrance door. Fitting an automatic door helps, but does not on its own guarantee those duties are met.
Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.
Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.
How it works
- Describe what you need. Whether the job is automatic internal doors for a busy entrance or for a single internal door, a brief description and some photos let us understand it and plan a survey visit in Gloucestershire.
- Free visit to the site. An engineer working under our management assesses the opening, the existing door and frame, the floor and the electrical supply, and notes any access, consent or timing issues to plan around.
- Your fixed quotation. The quote is fixed for the work it describes and lists each item, including any removal, making good and electrical work. It also states the lead time, the payment stages and the warranty terms.
- Fitting and sign-off. Work goes ahead on dates agreed with you. Once fitted, the door is adjusted and its safety functions are tested and recorded with reference to BS EN 16005, and you are shown how to use it.

Automatic internal doors in Gloucestershire: questions
Do you work in hospitals in Gloucestershire?
Yes. We work to the estates team's requirements for door widths, controls, infection control and fire alarm interfaces, and provide method statements, insurance details and the documents they ask for. Work on wards is usually planned out of hours or in phases.
What is the guide price for automatic internal doors in Gloucestershire?
Our guide starts from £1,795 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Gloucestershire confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Can you automate the corridor doors in our care home in Gloucestershire?
Yes. We survey each door, including its fire rating, hinges, frame and power, and quote a fixed price. Doors can be set to open gently and slowly, with extra safety sensors where residents are frail. Work is planned around your care routines and agreed with the home manager.
Can you service the internal doors in Gloucestershire after fitting?
Yes. We can arrange planned servicing with each door's operator, sensors and fire alarm release checked and a written record left. Servicing is chargeable, and the price per visit is agreed in writing before an engineer attends. Visits can be grouped so several doors are done together.
What does the written quote for automatic internal doors in Gloucestershire include?
The quote lists each item separately: the door or equipment, installation, electrical connections where we provide them, removal of anything being replaced, testing and handover. It is a fixed price for the work described, so it does not change unless the scope changes, and any change is agreed with you in writing first.
Do you service doors in Gloucestershire after installing them?
Yes. We recommend a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer's instructions and how heavily the door is used; busy doors are often serviced more often. Servicing can follow on from the installation, with the price agreed in writing and a record left after every visit.
Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in Gloucestershire?
In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
