Coverage across Oxfordshire

For automatic internal doors anywhere in Oxfordshire, you deal with one contracting party and one written price. We organise the visit, brief the engineer, who works under our management, and keep the paperwork together afterwards. Below you will find the towns we list in this part of England, 6 in all; if your address sits outside them, the arrangements are exactly the same.

What to think about for automatic internal doors in Oxfordshire

  • Check the fire rating of each door before the survey. Fire doors need operators made for them, and fixings and cables must not weaken the rating.
  • Schools and colleges in Oxfordshire often prefer corridor work in the holidays. Book the survey early in the term before, so doors and operators can be ordered and delivered in time.
  • Noise matters on wards and in bedrooms. Ask for night settings or quieter operators on doors near where people sleep, and check how loud any electric locks are when they release.
  • Doors linked to the fire alarm need a signal from the alarm panel. Allow time for your fire alarm contractor to provide the connection and test it with us.
  • Plan the work around the building's routine. Clinical areas, classrooms and kitchens in Oxfordshire may need out-of-hours working, which should be agreed and priced up front.

Standards and rules in England

Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which can include altering a physical feature such as a heavy entrance door. Fitting an automatic door helps, but does not on its own guarantee those duties are met.

Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.

Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.

How it works

  1. Send photos and the address. A few pictures of the door from both sides, the address in Oxfordshire and a note of who uses the entrance help us understand the job before anyone visits the site.
  2. No-cost survey on site. We arrange a survey at a time that suits the building. The engineer records measurements, fixings and power, plus any constraints such as listed status, opening hours or access for deliveries.
  3. Itemised quote to approve. We price every element of the work on automatic internal doors separately in a written quote that you can check, share and approve. Lead time and payment stages are stated, and nothing is ordered until you accept.
  4. Fit, test and hand over. On the agreed dates the engineer installs the equipment, commissions the operator and tests each safety function. You get a demonstration, the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

Send us a list of the doors and how they are used, and we will plan automatic internal doors for your building in Oxfordshire.

Automatic internal doors in Oxfordshire: questions

Can you automate the corridor doors in our care home in Oxfordshire?

Yes. We survey each door, including its fire rating, hinges, frame and power, and quote a fixed price. Doors can be set to open gently and slowly, with extra safety sensors where residents are frail. Work is planned around your care routines and agreed with the home manager.

How are prices worked out for automatic internal doors in Oxfordshire?

Our guide starts from £1,795 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Oxfordshire confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Can internal doors at our offices in Oxfordshire be linked to access control?

Yes. Card readers, fob readers or keypads can control who passes into staff areas, and the door opens automatically once access is granted. Locks release on the fire alarm where the fire strategy requires, and we can connect to an existing access control system or supply a standalone one.

Do you supply internal sliding doors as well as swing operators in Oxfordshire?

Yes. Where there is wall space beside the opening, a sliding door keeps the corridor clear and gives a wide opening, which suits wards. Where there is not, or the door is a fire door, a swing operator is usually the better fit. The survey compares both.

How are payments structured for work in Oxfordshire?

Payment stages are set out in the quote before you accept it. Larger or made-to-order jobs may involve a deposit and a balance on completion, while smaller jobs may be invoiced once the work is finished. Nothing is charged for the survey itself, and the terms you accept are the terms that apply.

What does the written quote for automatic internal doors in Oxfordshire include?

The quote lists each item separately: the door or equipment, installation, electrical connections where we provide them, removal of anything being replaced, testing and handover. It is a fixed price for the work described, so it does not change unless the scope changes, and any change is agreed with you in writing first.

Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in Oxfordshire?

In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
