Coverage across Gwent
Not every part of Gwent is easy to reach, and some sites need planning around access, parking or opening hours. We take that into account when arranging automatic internal doors, and the engineer, working under our management, arrives with what the job is likely to need. The towns below, 14 in all, each have their own page, but any address in the area can be covered.

What to think about for automatic internal doors in Gwent
- Plan the work around the building's routine. Clinical areas, classrooms and kitchens in Gwent may need out-of-hours working, which should be agreed and priced up front.
- Schools and colleges in Gwent often prefer corridor work in the holidays. Book the survey early in the term before, so doors and operators can be ordered and delivered in time.
- Each automated door needs power at the head. In older buildings in Gwent, running new supplies through finished corridors can be a significant part of the cost.
- Lightweight stud partitions may not carry an operator without extra support. The survey checks what the wall is made of and what reinforcement is needed.
- Hospitals in Gwent usually have estates teams with their own standards for door widths, controls and fire alarm interfaces. Share those early so the quote matches them.

Standards and rules in Wales
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers in Wales must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which can include altering a physical feature such as a heavy entrance door. Fitting an automatic door helps, but does not on its own guarantee those duties are met.
Wales has its own building regulations guidance. Approved Document M (Wales) uses a lower opening-force limit than England, 20 N at the leading edge, before a powered door is called for, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.
Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.
How it works
- Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for automatic internal doors and book a survey in Gwent.
- Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
- Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
- Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.

Automatic internal doors in Gwent: questions
Can you service the internal doors in Gwent after fitting?
Yes. We can arrange planned servicing with each door's operator, sensors and fire alarm release checked and a written record left. Servicing is chargeable, and the price per visit is agreed in writing before an engineer attends. Visits can be grouped so several doors are done together.
What will automatic internal doors in Gwent cost?
Our guide starts from £1,795 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Gwent confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Can you automate the corridor doors in our care home in Gwent?
Yes. We survey each door, including its fire rating, hinges, frame and power, and quote a fixed price. Doors can be set to open gently and slowly, with extra safety sensors where residents are frail. Work is planned around your care routines and agreed with the home manager.
How disruptive is the work in an occupied building in Gwent?
Usually less than people expect. Most swing operators take half a day to a day per door, and sliding doors a little longer. We plan the order of work to keep routes open, control dust, and agree any out-of-hours working in the quote.
What does the written quote for automatic internal doors in Gwent include?
The quote lists each item separately: the door or equipment, installation, electrical connections where we provide them, removal of anything being replaced, testing and handover. It is a fixed price for the work described, so it does not change unless the scope changes, and any change is agreed with you in writing first.
Can automatic doors be fitted to a listed building in Gwent?
Often, yes, but listed building consent is normally needed for changes that affect the character of the building, inside or out. Slim operators, concealed fixings and automating the existing door can all reduce the visual impact. Speak to the conservation officer at the local planning authority early; we can provide drawings and specifications to help.
Are the rules for automatic doors different in Wales?
Some are. Wales has its own building regulations guidance: Approved Document M (Wales) calls for a powered door where opening a self-closing entrance door would need more than 20 N, lower than the figure used in England. Fire law (the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005) and the Equality Act 2010 apply as in England.
