Coverage across Worcestershire

We treat Worcestershire as one service area for automatic door refurbishment, so a site on the edge of the area gets the same written pricing and the same standard of work as one in the busiest town centre. What to think about for automatic door refurbishment in Worcestershire

  • Listed buildings and conservation areas can limit changes to how the frame looks. Refurbishment within the existing frame usually avoids those issues and any need for consent.
  • Glass and made-to-measure leaves are typically 2 to 4 weeks from order. Plan the work around that lead time, especially if a damaged leaf is temporarily boarded.
  • Floors around the door in Worcestershire may be worn or uneven. New floor guides and thresholds sometimes need small areas of making good, which the quote lists separately.
  • Busy retail units in Worcestershire may prefer the work done in stages, one leaf at a time, so the entrance stays open throughout trading hours.
  • High street doors in Worcestershire often have scratched or etched glass from years of cleaning and graffiti. Replacing leaves with new safety glass restores a clean look.

Standards and rules in England

Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible. BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.

Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

How it works

  1. Send photos and the address. A few pictures of the door from both sides, the address in Worcestershire and a note of who uses the entrance help us understand the job before anyone visits the site.
  2. No-cost survey on site. We arrange a survey at a time that suits the building. The engineer records measurements, fixings and power, plus any constraints such as listed status, opening hours or access for deliveries.
  3. Itemised quote to approve. We price every element of the work on automatic door refurbishment separately in a written quote that you can check, share and approve. Lead time and payment stages are stated, and nothing is ordered until you accept.
  4. Fit, test and hand over. On the agreed dates the engineer installs the equipment, commissions the operator and tests each safety function. You get a demonstration, the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

Automatic door refurbishment in Worcestershire: questions

Will our entrance in Worcestershire stay open during refurbishment?

Often, at least in part. Many jobs can be done one leaf at a time, and the work can be planned for quieter hours. If the entrance does need to close, the quote says for how long, so you can arrange another way in for staff and visitors.

What is the guide price for automatic door refurbishment in Worcestershire?

Our guide starts from £395 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Worcestershire confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Do you set up the door again after refurbishing it in Worcestershire?

Yes. New running parts change how the leaves move, so speeds, sensor zones and obstacle detection are checked and reset before handover. You receive a record of the parts fitted and the test results to keep with the door's service history.

Can you replace a single broken glass leaf in Worcestershire?

Yes. The leaf is made safe, measured and reglazed with new safety glass, or replaced completely if its frame is damaged. New glass is typically 2 to 4 weeks from order. Once the leaf is rehung, the door is set up again and the track and floor guide are checked.

Can installation in Worcestershire happen outside opening hours?

Yes. Many shops, surgeries and offices prefer work early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends, when the entrance is quietest. Tell us your constraints when you enquire and they are built into the plan. Any extra cost for out-of-hours work is shown in the written quote rather than added afterwards.

What does the free site survey in Worcestershire involve?

An engineer working under our management visits the building, measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power supply, and looks at how people use the entrance. The survey is free and carries no obligation. Afterwards you receive a fixed, itemised written quote for automatic door refurbishment, with drawings where the door type needs them.

Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in Worcestershire?

In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
