Coverage across Cornwall
Our coverage of Cornwall is not tied to a depot or a showroom. Engineers who carry out automatic door repairs for us travel to each site, so a farm shop down a country lane goes through the same process as a city-centre office. Every job is priced in writing before work starts, and the town list below currently numbers 8.
Towns listed in Cornwall: Redruth, Falmouth, St Austell, Truro, Camborne, Newquay, Penzance, Hugh Town.
What to think about for automatic door repairs in Cornwall
- Doors knocked by trolleys, pushchairs or deliveries often go out of line. Repeated impacts damage rollers and floor guides, so it helps to know roughly when the fault first appeared.
- For surgeries, clinics and care settings in Cornwall, a door that will not open can stop wheelchair users getting in. Plan an alternative accessible entrance and clear signs while the repair is arranged.
- Wet and windy weather causes many false openings. Sensors over exposed entrances can react to rain and blowing leaves, and a small change to the detection zone often cures it.
- Glass damage needs prompt action to keep people safe. Switch the door off, keep people back from the broken leaf and tape or board the glass if that can be done safely.
- Opening hours matter when booking a repair in Cornwall. If your premises close early or open late, mention it so the engineer can work while the entrance is quiet.

Standards and rules in England
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.
No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.
How it works
- Tell us what is happening. Describe the fault, or the service or inspection that is due, and send photos of the door and any label on the operator. Include the address in Cornwall and how much the site depends on the door.
- Visit price agreed in writing. We confirm the price of the visit in writing before an engineer attends. If the door can be priced from photos and its make and model, we say so at this stage.
- Engineer visit. A specialist engineer working under our management diagnoses the fault or carries out the service, then tests the operation of the door and its safety sensors before leaving the site.
- Findings and follow-up. You receive a written record of what was found and done. Any parts or further work needed are quoted in writing before they go ahead, and nothing is added without your agreement.
Get your entrance working again. Describe the fault at your premises in Cornwall and we will tell you what the visit costs and when an engineer can attend.
Automatic door repairs in Cornwall: questions
How soon can an engineer get to my door in Cornwall?
That depends on engineer availability around Cornwall when you contact us, so we do not promise a time. Tell us whether the door is stuck open, stuck shut or unsafe, and we will tell you the earliest visit we can offer. Meanwhile, set the door to a safe mode and keep people away from the leaves.
What do you charge for automatic door repairs in Cornwall?
Our guide starts from £95 excluding VAT (visit including the first hour), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £114 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Cornwall, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.
Do engineers carry spare parts for doors in Cornwall?
Engineers carry common parts such as sensors, belts and some rollers. Controllers, motors and parts for less common doors are ordered once the fault is confirmed, and delivery is typically 1 to 3 weeks. Knowing the make and model in advance improves the chance of a repair during the first visit.
Do you keep records of repairs for buildings in Cornwall?
Yes. Each visit produces a written report of the fault found, the work done and any parts fitted or recommended. Facilities teams can keep these with the door's service records, which helps show the door is being maintained and makes repeat faults easier to trace.
Which makes of automatic door can you work on in Cornwall?
Engineers working under our management work on most makes of automatic door, including sliding, swing, folding, telescopic and revolving types. Some older or obsolete operators have limited parts availability. If that applies, we explain the options, which may include a replacement drive unit on the existing frame, and quote them before anything is ordered.
How soon can an engineer get to Cornwall?
We do not promise response times. When you book, we give you the earliest date we can offer and confirm it once the price is agreed. If the door is unsafe in the meantime, it is usually best to switch it off or set it to a safe mode, put up a sign and keep people clear of it.
Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Cornwall?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
