Hermetic sliding doors in Clwyd

If an operating theatre in Clwyd is losing pressure through an old sliding door, a hermetic replacement can restore the seal. We survey the opening, the wall and the floor, then quote a fixed price for the new door and its installation.

Coverage across Clwyd

Not every part of Clwyd is easy to reach, and some sites need planning around access, parking or opening hours. We take that into account when arranging hermetic sliding doors, and the engineer, working under our management, arrives with what the job is likely to need. The towns below, 11 in all, each have their own page, but any address in the area can be covered.

What to think about for hermetic sliding doors in Clwyd

  • Labs and cleanrooms in Clwyd often have modular wall panels. Frame details must match the panel system, so involve the cleanroom contractor before the door is ordered.
  • Interlocked doors need clear logic. Decide with your engineers which door has priority, how staff override the interlock in an emergency and what the status lights should show.
  • Choose finishes that stand up to the cleaning regime at your site in Clwyd. Stainless steel and high-pressure laminate cope with strong disinfectants, but check the chemicals your cleaning team uses first.
  • The floor must be flat and continuous through the opening. Welded vinyl or resin floors should be completed or repaired before the door is fitted, so the bottom seal meets a true surface.
  • Pharmacy aseptic units in Clwyd may want doors that follow the colour coding of their clean zones. Leaf finishes can be chosen in a different colour for each grade of room.

Standards and rules in Wales

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.

In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

Glass in and beside doors must be safety glass or protected where people could walk into it, and clear glass needs markings so people can see it (Approved Document K, as published by the Welsh Government).

How it works

  1. Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for hermetic sliding doors and book a survey in Clwyd.
  2. Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
  3. Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
  4. Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.

Hermetic sliding doors in Clwyd: questions

Is the survey for a hermetic door in Clwyd free?

Yes, for a new hermetic door the survey is free and there is no obligation. We measure the opening, check the wall and floor, discuss seals, finishes, activation and interlocks with your team, then send drawings and a fixed, itemised written quote.

Is there a guide price for hermetic sliding doors in Clwyd?

Our guide starts from £8,995 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Clwyd confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Can you supply lead-lined hermetic doors in Clwyd?

Yes. Lead-lined leaves and frames are made to the lead equivalence your radiation protection adviser specifies, with the same seals, finishes and touch-free activation as other hermetic doors. The extra weight is allowed for in the operator and the fixings.

Can you work within our infection control procedures in Clwyd?

Yes. Work in clinical and cleanroom areas is planned around your permits, screening and dust control requirements, and around room shutdowns. Share your procedures at the survey and we will build them into the method statement and the programme for the installation.

What is the lead time for hermetic sliding doors in Clwyd?

Lead times depend on the door type and what has to be made to order. As a guide, operators and accessible door kits are typically two to four weeks from order, and complete sliding entrances typically four to eight weeks from drawing approval. Curved, revolving and hermetic doors usually take longer. The expected lead time is stated in your quote.

How much disruption should we expect while the work is done in Clwyd?

Most installations take one visit or a short series of visits, with dust and noise kept to the area around the door. The engineer screens off the work area, keeps a route in or out where possible and clears up before leaving. Larger entrances, lobbies or structural changes take longer, and the quote explains how that work is phased.

Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Clwyd?

The responsible person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, and sliding or revolving doors must not be used for exits specifically intended as emergency exits.
