Coverage across Essex
There is no branch to visit in Essex; instead, specialist engineers working under our management travel to you. That keeps curved automatic doors available across the whole area, including smaller towns and rural addresses. The page for each of the 24 towns we list below sets out nearby places, guide prices and the questions people usually ask.

What to think about for curved automatic doors in Essex
- Curved glass cannot be cut to size on site. Allow for the longer lead time in any refurbishment programme, and do not book shopfitters or floor layers for the entrance until the door has a delivery date.
- Curved entrances in Essex are often installed during a wider refurbishment. Working with the main contractor on dates, power and protection of the finished floor helps the door go in once, without return visits.
- If the entrance is on an escape route, the fire strategy decides how the door must behave when the alarm sounds or the power fails. Confirm this with your fire risk assessor before the design is fixed.
- Department stores and shopping centres often have landlord fit-out rules for entrances. Ask centre management about approved working hours, hot works and fire alarm connections before the installation date is fixed.
- Listed buildings and conservation areas in Essex may need consent for a curved entrance. Drawings showing the radius, frame colour and canopy detail help the planning authority understand the proposal.

Standards and rules in England
Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.
In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which can include altering a physical feature such as a heavy entrance door. New entrances and some alterations count as building work, so check with building control before the work is ordered.
How it works
- Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for curved automatic doors and book a survey in Essex.
- Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
- Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
- Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.
To replace a tired entrance in Essex with a curved door, tell us the width, the depth available in front of the building and how busy it gets.
Curved automatic doors in Essex: questions
Is the site survey for a curved door in Essex free?
Yes. For a new curved entrance, the survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. The engineer measures the frontage, checks the structure, floor and power, and discusses the options with you. You then receive drawings and a fixed, itemised written quote.
What price range should I expect for curved automatic doors in Essex?
Our guide starts from £14,995 excluding VAT (per entrance), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Essex confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Will we need planning permission for a curved entrance in Essex?
Possibly. A curved door that changes the look of the frontage or projects beyond the building line may need planning permission, and listed buildings may need listed building consent. Your local planning authority decides. We raise the question at survey and can supply drawings and product details for an application.
Can you work with our architect or main contractor in Essex?
Yes. Many curved doors are part of a larger refurbishment or new build. We can work from the architect's setting-out drawings, agree the structural opening, canopy and floor details with the contractor, and fit the door at the right stage of the programme so finished floors and glazing are protected.
Can installation in Essex happen outside opening hours?
Yes. Many shops, surgeries and offices prefer work early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends, when the entrance is quietest. Tell us your constraints when you enquire and they are built into the plan. Any extra cost for out-of-hours work is shown in the written quote rather than added afterwards.
How much disruption should we expect while the work is done in Essex?
Most installations take one visit or a short series of visits, with dust and noise kept to the area around the door. The engineer screens off the work area, keeps a route in or out where possible and clears up before leaving. Larger entrances, lobbies or structural changes take longer, and the quote explains how that work is phased.
Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Essex?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
