What to think about for automatic door servicing in Gwynedd
- A logbook kept near the door, or a shared digital folder, makes it simple to show service history in Gwynedd when an insurer, landlord or inspector asks for it.
- Keep the programme switch key and any operator access keys on site. Engineers need them to change modes and test the door properly during the visit.
- Schools and colleges in Gwynedd often prefer servicing during holidays or after hours. Plan visits early in the year so they fall when the buildings are quiet.
- If several buildings share one maintenance budget, a single contract with one price per door and one set of records is easier to manage than booking visits separately.
- Battery backup units wear out over time. Testing them at each service shows whether the door will still open or close safely in a power cut.

No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend a safety check by a trained engineer at least once a year, and more frequent visits for busy doors. Repairs found during a service are quoted before they are done.
Standards and rules in Wales
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.
No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.
How it works
- Make contact. Phone, email or use the form. Tell us the type of door, what it is doing and whether it is safe to use, so the right visit for automatic door servicing can be planned.
- Written visit price. The cost of attending is agreed in writing before the visit is booked. For a planned service or inspection, the price per door and what each visit includes are set out at the same time.
- On-site work. The engineer, working under our management, checks the door from end to end, deals with the fault or the service, and tests every safety function and sensor setting before signing the door off.
- Report and quote. You receive a report of the findings. Where a repair, part or upgrade is recommended, it is quoted in writing so you can decide, and the door is left in a safe state if it cannot be used.

Automatic door servicing in Gwynedd: questions
Can one contract cover all our buildings in Gwynedd and nearby?
Yes. A contract can list every door across your sites, with the visits per year and the price for each door. One schedule and one set of service reports make it easier to keep records complete, and repair visits between services are charged at the contract rates.
What do you charge for automatic door servicing in Gwynedd?
Our guide starts from £145 excluding VAT (per visit, first door), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £174 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Gwynedd, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.
What happens if the service in Gwynedd finds a fault?
The engineer explains what they found and deals with small issues as part of the visit. Worn parts or longer repairs are quoted to you first and only carried out once you agree. The service report records the fault so it can be tracked at later visits.
Do you service automatic doors in Gwynedd?
Yes. Planned service visits in Gwynedd are carried out by automatic door specialists who work under our management, with us as your contracting party. They service sliding, swing, folding and revolving doors from most makers. The cost of each visit is confirmed in writing before it is booked, and you receive a service report afterwards.
Do you leave a written record after each visit in Gwynedd?
Yes. Every visit ends with a written record of what was checked, what was done and anything that still needs attention. For safety inspections you receive a report of the findings and a site-specific risk assessment. Keeping these on file is the usual way to show that a workplace door is maintained and in good working order.
How soon can an engineer get to Gwynedd?
We do not promise response times. When you book, we give you the earliest date we can offer and confirm it once the price is agreed. If the door is unsafe in the meantime, it is usually best to switch it off or set it to a safe mode, put up a sign and keep people clear of it.
Are the rules for automatic doors different in Wales?
Some are. Wales has its own building regulations guidance: Approved Document M (Wales) calls for a powered door where opening a self-closing entrance door would need more than 20 N, lower than the figure used in England. Fire law (the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005) and the Equality Act 2010 apply as in England.
