Coverage across Shropshire
Our coverage of Shropshire is not tied to a depot or a showroom. Engineers who carry out automatic door servicing for us travel to each site, so a farm shop down a country lane goes through the same process as a city-centre office. Every job is priced in writing before work starts, and the town list below currently numbers 4.
Towns listed in Shropshire: Telford, Shrewsbury, Wellington, Oswestry.
What to think about for automatic door servicing in Shropshire
- Exposed entrances collect grit, leaves and rain. Weather-facing doors benefit from extra attention to the floor guide, brush strips and sensor settings at each service.
- Doors on escape routes need their break-out or power-failure opening tested at every service. Tell us which doors serve escape routes so the engineer checks the right functions.
- Doors on busy high streets in Shropshire can cycle hundreds of times a day. Heavy use wears belts, rollers and floor guides faster, so these doors usually need more frequent visits.
- Schools and colleges in Shropshire often prefer servicing during holidays or after hours. Plan visits early in the year so they fall when the buildings are quiet.
- Battery backup units wear out over time. Testing them at each service shows whether the door will still open or close safely in a power cut.

No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend a safety check by a trained engineer at least once a year, and more frequent visits for busy doors. Repairs found during a service are quoted before they are done.
Standards and rules in England
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.
No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.
How it works
- Tell us what is happening. Describe the fault, or the service or inspection that is due, and send photos of the door and any label on the operator. Include the address in Shropshire and how much the site depends on the door.
- Visit price agreed in writing. We confirm the price of the visit in writing before an engineer attends. If the door can be priced from photos and its make and model, we say so at this stage.
- Engineer visit. A specialist engineer working under our management diagnoses the fault or carries out the service, then tests the operation of the door and its safety sensors before leaving the site.
- Findings and follow-up. You receive a written record of what was found and done. Any parts or further work needed are quoted in writing before they go ahead, and nothing is added without your agreement.

Automatic door servicing in Shropshire: questions
Can one contract cover all our buildings in Shropshire and nearby?
Yes. A contract can list every door across your sites, with the visits per year and the price for each door. One schedule and one set of service reports make it easier to keep records complete, and repair visits between services are charged at the contract rates.
What price range should I expect for automatic door servicing in Shropshire?
Our guide starts from £145 excluding VAT (per visit, first door), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £174 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Shropshire, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.
Do you service automatic doors in Shropshire?
Yes. Planned service visits in Shropshire are carried out by automatic door specialists who work under our management, with us as your contracting party. They service sliding, swing, folding and revolving doors from most makers. The cost of each visit is confirmed in writing before it is booked, and you receive a service report afterwards.
Will servicing help with our insurer or landlord in Shropshire?
Many insurers and landlords ask for evidence that automatic doors are maintained. A written service report for each door, kept in a logbook or digital folder, is the usual way to show that. If they ask for a risk assessment against BS EN 16005, a safety inspection can be added.
Are parts quoted before they are fitted?
Always. If a repair or service in Shropshire needs parts, such as rollers, belts, sensors, a control board or a motor, we quote them in writing first. Some common parts may be on the engineer's van; others are ordered once you accept the quote and fitted on a return visit at a price already agreed.
How is the visit price set for work in Shropshire?
We agree the visit price with you in writing before an engineer attends. It is based on the type of door, the work requested and the location. If parts or further work are needed once the engineer has found the cause, those are quoted before they are done, so the cost never moves without your agreement.
Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Shropshire?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
