Coverage across Surrey

Not every part of Surrey is easy to reach, and some sites need planning around access, parking or opening hours. We take that into account when arranging automatic door refurbishment, and the engineer, working under our management, arrives with what the job is likely to need. The towns below, 21 in all, each have their own page, but any address in the area can be covered.

What to think about for automatic door refurbishment in Surrey

  • High street doors in Surrey often have scratched or etched glass from years of cleaning and graffiti. Replacing leaves with new safety glass restores a clean look.
  • Busy retail units in Surrey may prefer the work done in stages, one leaf at a time, so the entrance stays open throughout trading hours.
  • After refurbishment, sensors and speeds are reset to suit the new parts. Keep the test record with your service history so later engineers can see what was done.
  • Frames near the coast or busy roads can corrode faster. The survey checks fixings and the bottom of the frame, where water and grit tend to collect.
  • Care settings in Surrey benefit from level thresholds and smooth-running leaves that do not snag walking frames, trolleys or wheelchair footplates as people pass through.

Standards and rules in England

Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible. BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.

Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for automatic door refurbishment and book a survey in Surrey.
  2. Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
  3. Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
  4. Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.

Before replacing an automatic door in Surrey, ask us to price refurbishment. The survey is free and shows exactly what is worth keeping.

Automatic door refurbishment in Surrey: questions

Can you refinish the frame of our door in Surrey?

Yes. Aluminium frames can be cleaned, repaired and recoated on site to refresh their colour. Badly damaged sections may need replacing rather than refinishing. Refinishing is listed separately in the quote, so you can decide whether to include it now or leave it for a later phase.

How are prices worked out for automatic door refurbishment in Surrey?

Our guide starts from £395 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Surrey confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Can you refurbish a door in Surrey that another company installed?

Yes. We refurbish doors whoever fitted them. The survey identifies the door system, and matching or equivalent rollers, guides, seals and glass are then sourced for it. If a part is no longer made, the quote explains the alternative.

Do you refurbish automatic doors in Surrey?

Yes. Refurbishment work in Surrey is planned and priced by us, then carried out by automatic door engineers and glaziers working under our management. There is no charge for the survey, and you receive a fixed quote with each item priced separately, from new glass and rollers to seals, floor guides, the threshold and frame refinishing.

What does the free site survey in Surrey involve?

An engineer working under our management visits the building, measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power supply, and looks at how people use the entrance. The survey is free and carries no obligation. Afterwards you receive a fixed, itemised written quote for automatic door refurbishment, with drawings where the door type needs them.

How are payments structured for work in Surrey?

Payment stages are set out in the quote before you accept it. Larger or made-to-order jobs may involve a deposit and a balance on completion, while smaller jobs may be invoiced once the work is finished. Nothing is charged for the survey itself, and the terms you accept are the terms that apply.

Do businesses in Surrey have to fit automatic doors?

No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
