Coverage across Devon
We treat Devon as one service area for automatic door refurbishment, so a site on the edge of the area gets the same written pricing and the same standard of work as one in the busiest town centre. Specialist automatic door engineers working under our management carry out each visit. Choose from the 9 towns below, or contact us with any address.

What to think about for automatic door refurbishment in Devon
- Care settings in Devon benefit from level thresholds and smooth-running leaves that do not snag walking frames, trolleys or wheelchair footplates as people pass through.
- Exposed entrances in Devon suffer most from worn seals and brush strips. New weatherproofing can cut draughts and noise noticeably, especially on doors facing the prevailing wind.
- If the operator is close to the end of its life, refurbishing the running gear while fitting a new drive unit saves a second visit and a second set-up.
- Frames near the coast or busy roads can corrode faster. The survey checks fixings and the bottom of the frame, where water and grit tend to collect.
- Listed buildings and conservation areas can limit changes to how the frame looks. Refurbishment within the existing frame usually avoids those issues and any need for consent.

Standards and rules in England
Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible. BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.
Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.
How it works
- Send photos and the address. A few pictures of the door from both sides, the address in Devon and a note of who uses the entrance help us understand the job before anyone visits the site.
- No-cost survey on site. We arrange a survey at a time that suits the building. The engineer records measurements, fixings and power, plus any constraints such as listed status, opening hours or access for deliveries.
- Itemised quote to approve. We price every element of the work on automatic door refurbishment separately in a written quote that you can check, share and approve. Lead time and payment stages are stated, and nothing is ordered until you accept.
- Fit, test and hand over. On the agreed dates the engineer installs the equipment, commissions the operator and tests each safety function. You get a demonstration, the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.
Send us photos of the door that needs attention in Devon, and we will arrange a survey at no cost and an itemised quote for the work.
Automatic door refurbishment in Devon: questions
Can you replace a single broken glass leaf in Devon?
Yes. The leaf is made safe, measured and reglazed with new safety glass, or replaced completely if its frame is damaged. New glass is typically 2 to 4 weeks from order. Once the leaf is rehung, the door is set up again and the track and floor guide are checked.
What is the guide price for automatic door refurbishment in Devon?
Our guide starts from £395 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Devon confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Do you refurbish automatic doors in Devon?
Yes. Refurbishment work in Devon is planned and priced by us, then carried out by automatic door engineers and glaziers working under our management. There is no charge for the survey, and you receive a fixed quote with each item priced separately, from new glass and rollers to seals, floor guides, the threshold and frame refinishing.
Is it worth refurbishing an old door at our premises in Devon?
If the frame is sound and the opening size still works, usually yes, as refurbishment costs far less than a new door. If the frame is corroded, the glass is not safety glass or the opening is too narrow, a new door may be better value, and the survey tells you which.
What should I send before the survey in Devon?
A few photos of the door from inside and outside, rough measurements of the opening, the address and a note of how the entrance is used. If the door already has an operator, a photo of any label on it helps. With that, the engineer arrives prepared, the survey takes less of your time and we can put the quote for automatic door refurbishment together more easily.
Can installation in Devon happen outside opening hours?
Yes. Many shops, surgeries and offices prefer work early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends, when the entrance is quietest. Tell us your constraints when you enquire and they are built into the plan. Any extra cost for out-of-hours work is shown in the written quote rather than added afterwards.
Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in Devon?
In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
