Telescopic sliding doors in Cornwall

Hospitals, clinics and surgeries in Cornwall often need beds, wheelchairs and trolleys to pass without anyone stopping to hold a door. A bi-parting telescopic door gives that width from a modest frame, and we can survey the entrance at no cost to you.

Coverage across Cornwall

Our coverage of Cornwall is not tied to a depot or a showroom. Engineers who carry out telescopic sliding doors for us travel to each site, so a farm shop down a country lane goes through the same process as a city-centre office. Every job is priced in writing before work starts, and the town list below currently numbers 8.

Towns listed in Cornwall: Redruth, Falmouth, St Austell, Truro, Camborne, Newquay, Penzance, Hugh Town.

What to think about for telescopic sliding doors in Cornwall

  • Medical centres in Cornwall often share a frontage with a pharmacy or other units. Check who owns the shopfront and whether the landlord needs to approve a new entrance before the survey drawing is finalised.
  • Entrances used by ambulances and patient transport in Cornwall benefit from a full-opening button for crews, while everyday visitors use a narrower partial opening that keeps the waiting area warmer.
  • Care homes and supported living buildings in Cornwall may want the main door to open freely for visitors but stay locked for some residents. A keypad or fob reader on the inside can be wired to the operator.
  • Hospital and supermarket entrances in Cornwall that run for long hours put more wear on the extra rollers and belts of a telescopic door. Plan a servicing arrangement from the start rather than waiting for the first fault.
  • Shop units in Cornwall that trade late or open early may want installation outside trading hours. Early starts and weekend work can usually be arranged and are shown as a separate line in the quote.

Standards and rules in England

Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.

In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which can include altering a physical feature such as a heavy entrance door. New entrances and some alterations count as building work, so check with building control before the work is ordered.

How it works

  1. Get in touch. Call, email or use the form with the address and what you have in mind. If you are not sure which type of door suits, describe the entrance and we will suggest the options worth considering.
  2. Survey and advice. The survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. The engineer checks the site and explains which options suit the entrance, the people using it and the budget, before anything is priced.
  3. Quote in writing. You receive a fixed, itemised quote for telescopic sliding doors in Cornwall, covering equipment, installation, testing and handover, with the lead time and payment stages set out clearly.
  4. Install, test, explain. The engineer installs and commissions the door, tests the sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour, and walks you through the controls. The handover pack records what was installed and tested.

Telescopic sliding doors in Cornwall: questions

Can you look after the door in Cornwall once it is installed?

Yes. We can quote planned servicing for the new door, with each visit priced in writing beforehand and the interval set by how heavily the door is used and the manufacturer's instructions. Busy entrances such as hospitals and supermarkets are usually serviced more often than quieter offices.

What is the guide price for telescopic sliding doors in Cornwall?

Our guide starts from £6,995 excluding VAT (per door set), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Cornwall confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

How much wider will our entrance in Cornwall be with telescopic doors?

As a rough guide, a telescopic door gives about two-thirds of its overall width as clear opening, against about half for a standard sliding door. On a typical shop or surgery entrance that can mean an extra 300 to 600 mm. The survey drawing for your building in Cornwall shows the exact clear width before you commit.

Is the telescopic door survey in Cornwall really free?

Yes, for a new telescopic entrance the site survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. The engineer measures the opening, checks the structure, floor and power, and talks through layouts. You then receive a measured drawing and a fixed, itemised written quote, and you decide whether to go ahead.

How do you make sure the door works for disabled visitors in Cornwall?

We look at who uses the entrance: wheelchair users, people with walking aids, parents with buggies and older visitors. That shapes the opening width, the opening speed, the hold-open time and where push pads or sensors go. Service providers and employers have duties to make reasonable adjustments under equality and accessibility law, and an automatic door is a common one.

What does the free site survey in Cornwall involve?

An engineer working under our management visits the building, measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power supply, and looks at how people use the entrance. The survey is free and carries no obligation. Afterwards you receive a fixed, itemised written quote for telescopic sliding doors, with drawings where the door type needs them.

Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in Cornwall?

In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
