Coverage across Cornwall
Wherever you are in Cornwall, we need the same three things to get started on curved automatic doors: a short description of the door, a few photos if you have them, and the address. From there we agree the price in writing and book a specialist engineer working under our management. Every town listed below has a page of its own, 8 in total.

What to think about for curved automatic doors in Cornwall
- The floor must be level across the whole arc, and the matwell and floor finish need cutting to the same radius as the guides. Coordinate the floor layer with the door programme so the curves match.
- Busy entrances with curved floor guides collect grit from the street. A good matwell and regular cleaning of the guide channels keep the leaves running smoothly around the arc.
- Curved doors on landmark buildings in Cornwall are often lit at night. Plan canopy lighting, signage and any warm air curtain alongside the door, so cables and fixings are in place before the glass goes in.
- If the entrance is on an escape route, the fire strategy decides how the door must behave when the alarm sounds or the power fails. Confirm this with your fire risk assessor before the design is fixed.
- A full-round door needs a roof or canopy that can be supported and drained. On exposed sites across Cornwall, think about how rainwater will leave the canopy without running down the glass into the threshold.

Standards and rules in England
Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.
In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which can include altering a physical feature such as a heavy entrance door. New entrances and some alterations count as building work, so check with building control before the work is ordered.
How it works
- Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for curved automatic doors and book a survey in Cornwall.
- Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
- Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
- Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.

Curved automatic doors in Cornwall: questions
Can a curved door in Cornwall replace a revolving door?
In many cases, yes. A full-round curved door gives similar draught protection with a straight, open path through, which many visitors find easier than a revolving door. The survey checks whether the existing drum position, floor recess and canopy can be reused or need altering.
What do you charge for curved automatic doors in Cornwall?
Our guide starts from £14,995 excluding VAT (per entrance), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Cornwall confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Can you work with our architect or main contractor in Cornwall?
Yes. Many curved doors are part of a larger refurbishment or new build. We can work from the architect's setting-out drawings, agree the structural opening, canopy and floor details with the contractor, and fit the door at the right stage of the programme so finished floors and glazing are protected.
Can the curved door in Cornwall be installed while we stay open?
Often, yes, for a half-round replacement, with the opening secured overnight and the work planned around quieter hours. A full-round door with a new roof usually needs the entrance closed for longer, so a second entrance is helpful. We agree the arrangements with you before the date is fixed.
Can installation in Cornwall happen outside opening hours?
Yes. Many shops, surgeries and offices prefer work early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends, when the entrance is quietest. Tell us your constraints when you enquire and they are built into the plan. Any extra cost for out-of-hours work is shown in the written quote rather than added afterwards.
How much disruption should we expect while the work is done in Cornwall?
Most installations take one visit or a short series of visits, with dust and noise kept to the area around the door. The engineer screens off the work area, keeps a route in or out where possible and clears up before leaving. Larger entrances, lobbies or structural changes take longer, and the quote explains how that work is phased.
Do businesses in Cornwall have to fit automatic doors?
No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
