Covering Wellington and nearby
Engineers working under our management travel to addresses across the TF1 postcode district for safety inspections and risk assessments. There is no depot or showroom in Wellington; you arrange everything with us by phone, email or the form on this page, and we confirm the price in writing first.
Many buildings in Wellington are older, with timber frames, thick walls, steps or uneven thresholds. These affect where an operator and sensors can go, and the engineer checks them on site before anything is fitted or adjusted.
Nearby towns we also list for safety inspections and risk assessments (straight-line distance): Telford (3.3 miles), Shrewsbury (9.9 miles), Stafford (18.3 miles), Wolverhampton (18.3 miles), Wednesfield (19.5 miles), Sedgley (19.8 miles).
What to think about for safety inspections and risk assessments in Wellington
- Programme switches left in the wrong mode cause many incidents. The inspection checks the switch is secure, labelled and set correctly for each time of day.
- If the use of a building has changed, for example a unit in Wellington that has become a clinic or a gym, the door's original set-up may no longer suit its users.
- Older shopfronts and listed buildings in Wellington may have narrow side screens and tight gaps that were thought acceptable when fitted. The report weighs what can reasonably be improved.
- Care homes and hospitals in Wellington have users who move slowly or unpredictably. The inspection pays close attention to sensor coverage and door speeds where frail or confused people pass through.
- Retail entrances in Wellington with heavy footfall can have sensors knocked out of alignment over time. The inspection checks that detection still covers the full closing edge.

Standards and rules in England
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.
How it works
- Report the fault or service. Let us know whether the door has failed, is behaving oddly or is simply due a service or safety inspection. A short video of the problem helps the engineer prepare for the visit.
- Agree the price first. Before anyone travels to Wellington, the visit price is set out in writing. It is based on the door type, the work requested and the location, so you know the cost in advance.
- Diagnose, repair, test. On site, the engineer finds the cause and puts it right where the parts are to hand, or completes the planned service. Sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour are checked before the door returns to use.
- Paperwork and next steps. A written record of the visit is left with you or sent afterwards. If parts must be ordered or more work is advisable, it is quoted separately and only goes ahead once you accept.

Safety inspections and risk assessments in Wellington: questions
How long will our door in Wellington be out of use during the inspection?
Usually only for short periods while sensors are tested and the door is observed in different modes. A single door generally takes about an hour in total. For busy entrances the inspection can be planned for a quieter time, or one leaf tested at a time where the door allows it.
What will safety inspections and risk assessments in Wellington cost?
Our guide is £125 to £250 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide prices we use across the UK. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Wellington, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.
Our insurer in Wellington has asked for a risk assessment. Is this what they mean?
Most likely. Insurers usually want a documented, site-specific risk assessment of the door by a competent person, along with service records. Check their exact wording and send it to us. Our report covers the door's hazard zones, test results and recommended actions, which is what most insurers expect to see.
What if a door in Wellington is found to be unsafe?
The engineer explains the problem before leaving and may recommend switching the door to a safer mode until it is fixed. High-priority findings are flagged at the top of the report. We can quote the repair or upgrade straight away, or you can arrange it with another competent installer.
Can visits in Wellington be arranged outside working hours?
Yes, where the site needs it. Early-morning, evening and weekend visits can be arranged for shops, surgeries and offices that cannot lose their entrance during the day. Any difference in price for out-of-hours attendance is agreed in writing before the visit is booked, alongside the standard visit price.
Are parts quoted before they are fitted?
Always. If a repair or service in Wellington needs parts, such as rollers, belts, sensors, a control board or a motor, we quote them in writing first. Some common parts may be on the engineer's van; others are ordered once you accept the quote and fitted on a return visit at a price already agreed.
Do businesses in Wellington have to fit automatic doors?
No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
