Covering Liverpool and nearby

Engineers working under our management travel to addresses across the L1, L2, L3, L5, L6 and L7 postcode districts for revolving doors. There is no depot or showroom in Liverpool; you arrange everything with us by phone, email or the form on this page, and we confirm the price in writing first.

Tall buildings can create strong wind at ground level, and wind pressure is a common cause of sliding doors stalling or reversing. Lobbies, telescopic leaves and correctly set closing force all help, and the engineer looks at exposure before recommending changes.

Nearby towns we also list for revolving doors (straight-line distance): Birkenhead (1.9 miles), Wallasey (3.7 miles), Litherland (4.2 miles), Bootle (4.2 miles), Bebington (4.5 miles), Crosby (5.2 miles).

What to think about for revolving doors in Liverpool

  • Listed buildings and conservation areas in Liverpool may need consent for a revolving door, especially if it projects or changes the façade. Drawings and finish samples help the planning authority.
  • Tall buildings in Liverpool can pull a strong draught through an open entrance. A revolving door controls this better than sliding doors, which is one reason office towers use them.
  • Hotel entrances in Liverpool see guests with large cases and families with pushchairs. A larger three-wing automatic door and a clearly signed pass door keep the flow moving.
  • Automatic revolving doors need power to the canopy and links to the fire alarm and access control. Plan cable routes before ceilings are closed in.
  • The fire strategy decides how people will escape. Agree with your fire risk assessor where the pass door and other exits will be before the revolving door is designed.

Standards and rules in England

In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.

How it works

  1. Describe what you need. Whether the job is revolving doors for a busy entrance or for a single internal door, a brief description and some photos let us understand it and plan a survey visit in Liverpool.
  2. Free visit to the site. An engineer working under our management assesses the opening, the existing door and frame, the floor and the electrical supply, and notes any access, consent or timing issues to plan around.
  3. Your fixed quotation. The quote is fixed for the work it describes and lists each item, including any removal, making good and electrical work. It also states the lead time, the payment stages and the warranty terms.
  4. Fitting and sign-off. Work goes ahead on dates agreed with you. Once fitted, the door is adjusted and its safety functions are tested and recorded with reference to BS EN 16005, and you are shown how to use it.

Send photos and any drawings of the entrance in Liverpool, and we will come back with options for a revolving door and an accessible pass door.

Revolving doors in Liverpool: questions

Do you install revolving doors in Liverpool?

Yes. We arrange manual and automatic revolving doors, with their accessible pass doors, for buildings in Liverpool and across Merseyside. Specialist automatic door engineers working under our management carry out the survey, installation and commissioning, and we are the contracting party throughout.

What is the guide price for revolving doors in Liverpool?

Our guide is £29,995 to £59,995 excluding VAT (per automatic door), the same guide prices we use across the UK. The free site survey in Liverpool confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Can our reception in Liverpool stay open during installation?

Usually, if there is a second entrance or the pass door can be fitted first. We stage the work so the building stays secure overnight and visitors are directed clearly. Where the revolving door is the only way in, we discuss weekend or out-of-hours working, with any extra cost shown in the quote.

Do we need a pass door beside a revolving door in Liverpool?

In practice, yes. A revolving door is not accessible on its own, so an accessible powered swing or sliding door should be provided alongside for wheelchair users, pushchairs, deliveries and anyone who needs it. It also usually forms part of the escape strategy. We design and quote both together.

How are payments structured for work in Liverpool?

Payment stages are set out in the quote before you accept it. Larger or made-to-order jobs may involve a deposit and a balance on completion, while smaller jobs may be invoiced once the work is finished. Nothing is charged for the survey itself, and the terms you accept are the terms that apply.

Is there a warranty on revolving doors?

Yes. The warranty terms for the equipment and the installation are set out in your written quote, so you can see exactly what is covered before you accept. Keeping the door serviced at the recommended intervals helps keep it in good order, and the quote explains any conditions that apply to the warranty.

Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in Liverpool?

In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
