Covering Liverpool and nearby

From shops and surgeries to schools, care homes and private houses, any building in the L1, L2, L3, L5, L6 and L7 postcode districts can be covered for hermetic sliding doors. Specialist engineers working under our management carry out the work, and you deal with us as the contracting party from start to finish.

Tall buildings can create strong wind at ground level, and wind pressure is a common cause of sliding doors stalling or reversing. Lobbies, telescopic leaves and correctly set closing force all help, and the engineer looks at exposure before recommending changes.

Nearby towns we also list for hermetic sliding doors (straight-line distance): Birkenhead (1.9 miles), Wallasey (3.7 miles), Litherland (4.2 miles), Bootle (4.2 miles), Bebington (4.5 miles), Crosby (5.2 miles).

What to think about for hermetic sliding doors in Liverpool

  • Theatre doors in Liverpool can usually only be replaced during a planned shutdown. Agree the dates with the theatre team early, as the door is made to order and the room needs cleaning and validation after installation.
  • Seals are consumable parts. Budget for regular inspection and replacement in the planned maintenance programme for each theatre or cleanroom, with visit prices agreed in writing.
  • Pharmacy aseptic units in Liverpool may want doors that follow the colour coding of their clean zones. Leaf finishes can be chosen in a different colour for each grade of room.
  • Labs and cleanrooms in Liverpool often have modular wall panels. Frame details must match the panel system, so involve the cleanroom contractor before the door is ordered.
  • Touch-free activation should suit how staff work. Foot switches suit scrubbed theatre staff, wave sensors suit corridors, and card readers suit restricted labs where only trained staff may enter.

Standards and rules in England

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.

In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

How it works

  1. Describe what you need. Whether the job is hermetic sliding doors for a busy entrance or for a single internal door, a brief description and some photos let us understand it and plan a survey visit in Liverpool.
  2. Free visit to the site. An engineer working under our management assesses the opening, the existing door and frame, the floor and the electrical supply, and notes any access, consent or timing issues to plan around.
  3. Your fixed quotation. The quote is fixed for the work it describes and lists each item, including any removal, making good and electrical work. It also states the lead time, the payment stages and the warranty terms.
  4. Fitting and sign-off. Work goes ahead on dates agreed with you. Once fitted, the door is adjusted and its safety functions are tested and recorded with reference to BS EN 16005, and you are shown how to use it.

Hermetic sliding doors in Liverpool: questions

Who maintains hermetic doors in Liverpool once fitted?

We can, through planned servicing with each visit priced in writing before an engineer attends. Seals, sensors and interlocks need regular checks, and a trained engineer should test the safety functions at least once a year. Many theatres and cleanrooms schedule more frequent checks as part of their own maintenance programme.

Is there a guide price for hermetic sliding doors in Liverpool?

Our guide starts from £8,995 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Liverpool confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Is the survey for a hermetic door in Liverpool free?

Yes, for a new hermetic door the survey is free and there is no obligation. We measure the opening, check the wall and floor, discuss seals, finishes, activation and interlocks with your team, then send drawings and a fixed, itemised written quote.

Can our existing theatre door in Liverpool be upgraded rather than replaced?

Sometimes. Where the leaf and frame are sound, new seals, an adjusted or replaced operator and new touch-free switches can restore performance. Where the frame is damaged or the door is no longer supported, replacement is usually better. The survey looks at both and explains the difference.

What happens once the installation in Liverpool is finished?

The engineer tests every function, including the safety sensors and the behaviour on power loss, and sets the door up with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown how to use the controls and which simple checks to make, and you receive the handover documents, including the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

What happens to the old door when a new one is fitted in Liverpool?

If the work replaces an existing door, frame or operator, removal and disposal are listed in the quote. The old door comes out only when the new one is ready to go in, so the opening is not left empty for longer than necessary. Making good to the surrounding wall, floor or ceiling is included where the quote says so.

Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Liverpool?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
