Covering Chelsea and nearby

For revolving doors, coverage around Chelsea is set by postcode and includes the SW3 and SW10 postcode districts, as well as nearby addresses in Greater London. Specialist engineers working under our management attend each site, and the price is agreed in writing beforehand.

Victorian and Georgian terraces are common across London, and converted buildings in Chelsea may have steps, narrow hallways or shared front doors. A home door opener or an operator on a communal door has to work within those limits, and the engineer checks what will fit.

Nearby towns we also list for revolving doors (straight-line distance): Battersea (1.1 miles), Kensington (1.3 miles), Fulham (1.4 miles), Westminster (1.6 miles), Clapham (2.2 miles), Shepherd's Bush (2.5 miles).

What to think about for revolving doors in Chelsea

  • Revolving doors with curved glass drum walls have longer lead times. Allow for them in any refurbishment programme across Greater London, and confirm dates before booking floor layers or shopfitters.
  • Hotel entrances in Chelsea see guests with large cases and families with pushchairs. A larger three-wing automatic door and a clearly signed pass door keep the flow moving.
  • Plan the pass door first. Wheelchair users, pushchairs and deliveries need an accessible powered door beside the drum, and it should be easy to find from the street in Chelsea, with clear signs.
  • Automatic revolving doors need power to the canopy and links to the fire alarm and access control. Plan cable routes before ceilings are closed in.
  • Night security needs thought. Decide whether the wings will lock across the drum or a night shield is needed, and how the pass door and any shutters will be secured.

Standards and rules in England

In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for revolving doors and book a survey in Chelsea.
  2. Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
  3. Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
  4. Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.

Revolving doors in Chelsea: questions

Will a revolving door in Chelsea work with our fire alarm?

It can. An automatic revolving door can be linked to the fire alarm so it stops, slows or folds as the fire strategy requires, and the pass door can be set to open. Your alarm engineer usually makes the panel connection, and the quote shows who is responsible for each part.

What will revolving doors in Chelsea cost?

Our guide is £29,995 to £59,995 excluding VAT (per automatic door), the same guide prices we use across the UK. The free site survey in Chelsea confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Do we need a pass door beside a revolving door in Chelsea?

In practice, yes. A revolving door is not accessible on its own, so an accessible powered swing or sliding door should be provided alongside for wheelchair users, pushchairs, deliveries and anyone who needs it. It also usually forms part of the escape strategy. We design and quote both together.

Do you install revolving doors in Chelsea?

Yes. We arrange manual and automatic revolving doors, with their accessible pass doors, for buildings in Chelsea and across Greater London. Specialist automatic door engineers working under our management carry out the survey, installation and commissioning, and we are the contracting party throughout.

What happens once the installation in Chelsea is finished?

The engineer tests every function, including the safety sensors and the behaviour on power loss, and sets the door up with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown how to use the controls and which simple checks to make, and you receive the handover documents, including the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

What happens to the old door when a new one is fitted in Chelsea?

If the work replaces an existing door, frame or operator, removal and disposal are listed in the quote. The old door comes out only when the new one is ready to go in, so the opening is not left empty for longer than necessary. Making good to the surrounding wall, floor or ceiling is included where the quote says so.

Do businesses in Chelsea have to fit automatic doors?

No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
