What to think about for hermetic sliding doors in South Yorkshire
- Private hospitals, veterinary practices and dental surgeries in South Yorkshire sometimes need hermetic doors for treatment rooms too. The same survey and specification process applies, scaled to the room.
- Seals are consumable parts. Budget for regular inspection and replacement in the planned maintenance programme for each theatre or cleanroom, with visit prices agreed in writing.
- Power, building management and fire alarm links need planning with your electrical contractor. Cable routes into sealed cleanroom ceilings must be agreed early, before the panels are sealed.
- Pharmacy aseptic units in South Yorkshire may want doors that follow the colour coding of their clean zones. Leaf finishes can be chosen in a different colour for each grade of room.
- Imaging rooms in South Yorkshire need the lead equivalence confirmed by a radiation protection adviser. The lead lining adds weight, which affects the choice of operator and frame.

Standards and rules in England
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.
In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.
Glass in and beside doors must be safety glass or protected where people could walk into it, and clear glass needs markings in two bands, 850 mm to 1000 mm and 1400 mm to 1600 mm above the floor (Approved Document K).
How it works
- Send photos and the address. A few pictures of the door from both sides, the address in South Yorkshire and a note of who uses the entrance help us understand the job before anyone visits the site.
- No-cost survey on site. We arrange a survey at a time that suits the building. The engineer records measurements, fixings and power, plus any constraints such as listed status, opening hours or access for deliveries.
- Itemised quote to approve. We price every element of the work on hermetic sliding doors separately in a written quote that you can check, share and approve. Lead time and payment stages are stated, and nothing is ordered until you accept.
- Fit, test and hand over. On the agreed dates the engineer installs the equipment, commissions the operator and tests each safety function. You get a demonstration, the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

Hermetic sliding doors in South Yorkshire: questions
Can you supply lead-lined hermetic doors in South Yorkshire?
Yes. Lead-lined leaves and frames are made to the lead equivalence your radiation protection adviser specifies, with the same seals, finishes and touch-free activation as other hermetic doors. The extra weight is allowed for in the operator and the fixings.
How much should I budget for hermetic sliding doors in South Yorkshire?
Our guide starts from £8,995 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in South Yorkshire confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Will the hermetic door in South Yorkshire link to our building management system?
It can. The operator can send door status to the building management system and receive signals from it, as well as from the fire alarm and access control. The interface is agreed with your controls contractor and shown in the quote, so responsibilities are clear.
Can our existing theatre door in South Yorkshire be upgraded rather than replaced?
Sometimes. Where the leaf and frame are sound, new seals, an adjusted or replaced operator and new touch-free switches can restore performance. Where the frame is damaged or the door is no longer supported, replacement is usually better. The survey looks at both and explains the difference.
What is the lead time for hermetic sliding doors in South Yorkshire?
Lead times depend on the door type and what has to be made to order. As a guide, operators and accessible door kits are typically two to four weeks from order, and complete sliding entrances typically four to eight weeks from drawing approval. Curved, revolving and hermetic doors usually take longer. The expected lead time is stated in your quote.
What does the free site survey in South Yorkshire involve?
An engineer working under our management visits the building, measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power supply, and looks at how people use the entrance. The survey is free and carries no obligation. Afterwards you receive a fixed, itemised written quote for hermetic sliding doors, with drawings where the door type needs them.
Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in South Yorkshire?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
