What to think about for hermetic sliding doors in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde

  • Private hospitals, veterinary practices and dental surgeries in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde sometimes need hermetic doors for treatment rooms too. The same survey and specification process applies, scaled to the room.
  • Power, building management and fire alarm links need planning with your electrical contractor. Cable routes into sealed cleanroom ceilings must be agreed early, before the panels are sealed.
  • Imaging rooms in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde need the lead equivalence confirmed by a radiation protection adviser. The lead lining adds weight, which affects the choice of operator and frame.
  • Touch-free activation should suit how staff work. Foot switches suit scrubbed theatre staff, wave sensors suit corridors, and card readers suit restricted labs where only trained staff may enter.
  • Seals are consumable parts. Budget for regular inspection and replacement in the planned maintenance programme for each theatre or cleanroom, with visit prices agreed in writing.

Standards and rules in Scotland

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.

In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

Glass in and beside doors must be safe where people could walk into it, and Scottish guidance puts markings on clear glass in two bands, 850 mm to 1.0 m and 1.4 m to 1.6 m above the floor.

How it works

  1. Get in touch. Call, email or use the form with the address and what you have in mind. If you are not sure which type of door suits, describe the entrance and we will suggest the options worth considering.
  2. Survey and advice. The survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. The engineer checks the site and explains which options suit the entrance, the people using it and the budget, before anything is priced.
  3. Quote in writing. You receive a fixed, itemised quote for hermetic sliding doors in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde, covering equipment, installation, testing and handover, with the lead time and payment stages set out clearly.
  4. Install, test, explain. The engineer installs and commissions the door, tests the sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour, and walks you through the controls. The handover pack records what was installed and tested.

Send us the room type, opening size and any specification you have, and we will arrange a free survey in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde for a hermetic sliding door.

Hermetic sliding doors in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde: questions

Can you supply lead-lined hermetic doors in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde?

Yes. Lead-lined leaves and frames are made to the lead equivalence your radiation protection adviser specifies, with the same seals, finishes and touch-free activation as other hermetic doors. The extra weight is allowed for in the operator and the fixings.

What price range should I expect for hermetic sliding doors in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde?

Our guide starts from £8,995 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Who maintains hermetic doors in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde once fitted?

We can, through planned servicing with each visit priced in writing before an engineer attends. Seals, sensors and interlocks need regular checks, and a trained engineer should test the safety functions at least once a year. Many theatres and cleanrooms schedule more frequent checks as part of their own maintenance programme.

How long will the room in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde be out of use?

Installing a single hermetic door usually takes one to two days on site, plus time for your own cleaning and validation afterwards. Larger doors, lead-lined doors or interlocked pairs take longer. The door is typically 6 to 10 weeks from order, so we agree dates with you well in advance.

What happens once the installation in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde is finished?

The engineer tests every function, including the safety sensors and the behaviour on power loss, and sets the door up with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown how to use the controls and which simple checks to make, and you receive the handover documents, including the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

How are payments structured for work in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde?

Payment stages are set out in the quote before you accept it. Larger or made-to-order jobs may involve a deposit and a balance on completion, while smaller jobs may be invoiced once the work is finished. Nothing is charged for the survey itself, and the terms you accept are the terms that apply.

Do businesses in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde have to fit automatic doors?

No law requires automatic doors everywhere. Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and Scottish guidance says powered doors improve accessibility at entrances. An automatic door is often the practical answer.
