What to think about for hermetic sliding doors in Lanarkshire
- Infection control rules in hospitals across Lanarkshire usually require screening, dust control and permits for work in clinical areas. Share your procedures at survey so they are built into the programme.
- The floor must be flat and continuous through the opening. Welded vinyl or resin floors should be completed or repaired before the door is fitted, so the bottom seal meets a true surface.
- Private hospitals, veterinary practices and dental surgeries in Lanarkshire sometimes need hermetic doors for treatment rooms too. The same survey and specification process applies, scaled to the room.
- Theatre doors in Lanarkshire can usually only be replaced during a planned shutdown. Agree the dates with the theatre team early, as the door is made to order and the room needs cleaning and validation after installation.
- Power, building management and fire alarm links need planning with your electrical contractor. Cable routes into sealed cleanroom ceilings must be agreed early, before the panels are sealed.

Standards and rules in Scotland
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.
In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.
Glass in and beside doors must be safe where people could walk into it, and Scottish guidance puts markings on clear glass in two bands, 850 mm to 1.0 m and 1.4 m to 1.6 m above the floor.
How it works
- Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for hermetic sliding doors and book a survey in Lanarkshire.
- Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
- Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
- Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.

Hermetic sliding doors in Lanarkshire: questions
How long will the room in Lanarkshire be out of use?
Installing a single hermetic door usually takes one to two days on site, plus time for your own cleaning and validation afterwards. Larger doors, lead-lined doors or interlocked pairs take longer. The door is typically 6 to 10 weeks from order, so we agree dates with you well in advance.
Is there a guide price for hermetic sliding doors in Lanarkshire?
Our guide starts from £8,995 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Lanarkshire confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Will the hermetic door in Lanarkshire link to our building management system?
It can. The operator can send door status to the building management system and receive signals from it, as well as from the fire alarm and access control. The interface is agreed with your controls contractor and shown in the quote, so responsibilities are clear.
Can our existing theatre door in Lanarkshire be upgraded rather than replaced?
Sometimes. Where the leaf and frame are sound, new seals, an adjusted or replaced operator and new touch-free switches can restore performance. Where the frame is damaged or the door is no longer supported, replacement is usually better. The survey looks at both and explains the difference.
What do you need from us for parking and access in Lanarkshire?
Somewhere for the engineer's van as close to the entrance as possible, and a clear working area around the door. If parking is restricted, loading rules apply or the site has security procedures, tell us when you book. Those details go into the plan so the visit is not held up on the day.
What should I send before the survey in Lanarkshire?
A few photos of the door from inside and outside, rough measurements of the opening, the address and a note of how the entrance is used. If the door already has an operator, a photo of any label on it helps. With that, the engineer arrives prepared, the survey takes less of your time and we can put the quote for hermetic sliding doors together more easily.
Do businesses in Lanarkshire have to fit automatic doors?
No law requires automatic doors everywhere. Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and Scottish guidance says powered doors improve accessibility at entrances. An automatic door is often the practical answer.
