Coverage across Herefordshire

We treat Herefordshire as one service area for hermetic sliding doors, so a site on the edge of the area gets the same written pricing and the same standard of work as one in the busiest town centre. Specialist automatic door engineers working under our management carry out each visit. Choose from the 3 towns below, or contact us with any address.

What to think about for hermetic sliding doors in Herefordshire

  • Seals are consumable parts. Budget for regular inspection and replacement in the planned maintenance programme for each theatre or cleanroom, with visit prices agreed in writing.
  • Pharmacy aseptic units in Herefordshire may want doors that follow the colour coding of their clean zones. Leaf finishes can be chosen in a different colour for each grade of room.
  • Imaging rooms in Herefordshire need the lead equivalence confirmed by a radiation protection adviser. The lead lining adds weight, which affects the choice of operator and frame.
  • Touch-free activation should suit how staff work. Foot switches suit scrubbed theatre staff, wave sensors suit corridors, and card readers suit restricted labs where only trained staff may enter.
  • Interlocked doors need clear logic. Decide with your engineers which door has priority, how staff override the interlock in an emergency and what the status lights should show.

Standards and rules in England

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.

In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

Glass in and beside doors must be safety glass or protected where people could walk into it, and clear glass needs markings in two bands, 850 mm to 1000 mm and 1400 mm to 1600 mm above the floor (Approved Document K).

How it works

  1. Start with a short enquiry. Use the form, phone or email. Tell us whether the work is a new door, an upgrade or an opener for a home, and we arrange the next step for your site in Herefordshire.
  2. Measured survey. The free survey confirms what will fit and what the entrance needs: opening width, door type, activation, safety sensors and behaviour on power loss or fire alarm, matched to how the building is used.
  3. Written price, no surprises. A fixed, itemised quote sets out the specification, the work involved, the expected lead time and the warranty terms. You can ask questions or change the specification before accepting it.
  4. Installed and commissioned. The door is installed with as little disruption as possible, then set up and tested for its hazard zones. Before leaving, the engineer explains the controls and hands over the documents for your records.

Send us the room type, opening size and any specification you have, and we will arrange a free survey in Herefordshire for a hermetic sliding door.

Hermetic sliding doors in Herefordshire: questions

How long will the room in Herefordshire be out of use?

Installing a single hermetic door usually takes one to two days on site, plus time for your own cleaning and validation afterwards. Larger doors, lead-lined doors or interlocked pairs take longer. The door is typically 6 to 10 weeks from order, so we agree dates with you well in advance.

What price range should I expect for hermetic sliding doors in Herefordshire?

Our guide starts from £8,995 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Herefordshire confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Can you work within our infection control procedures in Herefordshire?

Yes. Work in clinical and cleanroom areas is planned around your permits, screening and dust control requirements, and around room shutdowns. Share your procedures at the survey and we will build them into the method statement and the programme for the installation.

Can you supply lead-lined hermetic doors in Herefordshire?

Yes. Lead-lined leaves and frames are made to the lead equivalence your radiation protection adviser specifies, with the same seals, finishes and touch-free activation as other hermetic doors. The extra weight is allowed for in the operator and the fixings.

Do you service doors in Herefordshire after installing them?

Yes. We recommend a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer's instructions and how heavily the door is used; busy doors are often serviced more often. Servicing can follow on from the installation, with the price agreed in writing and a record left after every visit.

Do I need permission from a landlord or the council before work in Herefordshire?

It depends on the building. Tenants usually need the landlord's written consent before changing an entrance, and some changes to a shopfront or external door need planning permission. The survey notes anything that may need consent. We can supply drawings and product details to support an application, but the owner or tenant makes it.

Do businesses in Herefordshire have to fit automatic doors?

No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
