Covering Belfast and nearby

We cover the whole of the BT1, BT2, BT6, BT7, BT12 and BT13 postcode districts, along with nearby towns in County Antrim. You book each visit for automatic internal doors directly with us, and a specialist automatic door engineer working under our management travels to your site on the agreed date.

Tall buildings can create strong wind at ground level, and wind pressure is a common cause of sliding doors stalling or reversing. Lobbies, telescopic leaves and correctly set closing force all help, and the engineer looks at exposure before recommending changes.

Nearby towns we also list for automatic internal doors (straight-line distance): Newtownabbey (4.4 miles), Holywood (5.0 miles), Dundonald (5.1 miles), Lisburn (6.7 miles), Comber (8.0 miles), Newtownards (9.4 miles).

What to think about for automatic internal doors in Belfast

  • Infection control rules may set what materials and controls can be used. Wipe-clean surfaces and sealed switches that stand up to cleaning products are worth specifying.
  • Plan the work around the building's routine. Clinical areas, classrooms and kitchens in Belfast may need out-of-hours working, which should be agreed and priced up front.
  • Doors linked to the fire alarm need a signal from the alarm panel. Allow time for your fire alarm contractor to provide the connection and test it with us.
  • Measure what passes through the door, not just the door. Beds, hoists, trolleys and catering equipment can need a wider opening than the current door gives.
  • Lightweight stud partitions may not carry an operator without extra support. The survey checks what the wall is made of and what reinforcement is needed.

Standards and rules in Northern Ireland

The Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 require a powered door to have a means to prevent it trapping anyone and a means to open it if the power fails. Guidance on access to buildings is in Technical Booklet R, and building control approval is needed for new entrances.

Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Northern Ireland machinery, including a new or converted powered door, carries the CE marking (with UKNI added where a UK body carried out the conformity assessment), and the EU Machinery Regulation applies there from 20 January 2027.

How it works

  1. Describe what you need. Whether the job is automatic internal doors for a busy entrance or for a single internal door, a brief description and some photos let us understand it and plan a survey visit in Belfast.
  2. Free visit to the site. An engineer working under our management assesses the opening, the existing door and frame, the floor and the electrical supply, and notes any access, consent or timing issues to plan around.
  3. Your fixed quotation. The quote is fixed for the work it describes and lists each item, including any removal, making good and electrical work. It also states the lead time, the payment stages and the warranty terms.
  4. Fitting and sign-off. Work goes ahead on dates agreed with you. Once fitted, the door is adjusted and its safety functions are tested and recorded with reference to BS EN 16005, and you are shown how to use it.

Automatic internal doors in Belfast: questions

Can you service the internal doors in Belfast after fitting?

Yes. We can arrange planned servicing with each door's operator, sensors and fire alarm release checked and a written record left. Servicing is chargeable, and the price per visit is agreed in writing before an engineer attends. Visits can be grouped so several doors are done together.

What do you charge for automatic internal doors in Belfast?

Our guide starts from £1,795 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Belfast confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Can internal doors at our offices in Belfast be linked to access control?

Yes. Card readers, fob readers or keypads can control who passes into staff areas, and the door opens automatically once access is granted. Locks release on the fire alarm where the fire strategy requires, and we can connect to an existing access control system or supply a standalone one.

How disruptive is the work in an occupied building in Belfast?

Usually less than people expect. Most swing operators take half a day to a day per door, and sliding doors a little longer. We plan the order of work to keep routes open, control dust, and agree any out-of-hours working in the quote.

Can automatic doors be fitted to a listed building in Belfast?

Often, yes, but listed building consent is normally needed for changes that affect the character of the building, inside or out. Slim operators, concealed fixings and automating the existing door can all reduce the visual impact. Speak to the conservation officer at the local planning authority early; we can provide drawings and specifications to help.

How are payments structured for work in Belfast?

Payment stages are set out in the quote before you accept it. Larger or made-to-order jobs may involve a deposit and a balance on completion, while smaller jobs may be invoiced once the work is finished. Nothing is charged for the survey itself, and the terms you accept are the terms that apply.

Which accessibility law applies in Belfast?

In Northern Ireland the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 applies, because the Equality Act 2010 does not extend there. Service providers and employers are expected to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and an automatic door is a common one at entrances.
