Covering Belfast and nearby
Sites across the BT1, BT2, BT6, BT7, BT12 and BT13 postcode districts are visited by specialist automatic door engineers working under our management. They travel to Belfast for accessible door operators as bookings come in, so dates depend on the diary rather than a fixed local team, and we give you the earliest date we can offer when you book.
Older civic and commercial buildings often sit alongside modern blocks in Belfast and the surrounding parts of County Antrim. Where a listed building or a conservation area is involved, the owner may need consent from the planning authority before work on the entrance starts.
Nearby towns we also list for accessible door operators (straight-line distance): Newtownabbey (4.4 miles), Holywood (5.0 miles), Dundonald (5.1 miles), Lisburn (6.7 miles), Comber (8.0 miles), Newtownards (9.4 miles).
What to think about for accessible door operators in Belfast
- Check how heavy the door is to push now. If the closer is set very strong for fire or wind reasons, the operator has to be chosen to suit, and the closer may need adjusting.
- Offices and shared buildings in Belfast often have doors used by both staff and visitors. Power assist for everyday use, with a push pad for those who need full opening, keeps the door easy for everyone.
- Think about the whole route, not just one door. A step, a heavy inner door or a tight turn after an automatic entrance can still stop a wheelchair user getting where they need to go.
- Place push pads where a wheelchair user can reach them without the door swinging into them. That often means mounting a pad on a post or a side wall rather than on the frame.
- If the door is a fire door, find its rating or records before the survey. Fixings and cabling must respect the rating, and the operator must release the door on the fire alarm.

Standards and rules in Northern Ireland
The Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 require a powered door to have a means to prevent it trapping anyone and a means to open it if the power fails. Guidance on access to buildings is in Technical Booklet R, and building control approval is needed for new entrances.
Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Northern Ireland machinery, including a new or converted powered door, carries the CE marking (with UKNI added where a UK body carried out the conformity assessment), and the EU Machinery Regulation applies there from 20 January 2027.
How it works
- Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for accessible door operators and book a survey in Belfast.
- Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
- Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
- Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.
Send us a photo of the door and tell us who uses it, and we will arrange a free survey in Belfast and quote an operator to suit.
Accessible door operators in Belfast: questions
Do you fit operators to accessible toilets in Belfast?
Yes. An accessible toilet usually needs a low-energy operator, push pads inside and out, a lock button that stops the door opening from outside while in use, and an emergency release for staff. We price the full kit, test it with your staff and leave the settings in writing.
How much should I budget for accessible door operators in Belfast?
Our guide is £1,795 to £2,995 excluding VAT (per single door), the same guide prices we use across the UK. The free site survey in Belfast confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Our building in Belfast is listed. Can we still have an operator?
Often, yes. Low-energy operators are compact and can sometimes be mounted on the inside face, with cabling hidden. Listed building consent may still be needed for fixings or new switches, so check with the planning authority. We can supply product details for an application.
Can you fit operators to several doors across our sites in Belfast?
Yes. We can survey several doors or buildings in one visit where they are close together and quote each door separately, so you can phase the work if budgets need it. Controls and push pads can be kept the same across sites for consistency.
What does the free site survey in Belfast involve?
An engineer working under our management visits the building, measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power supply, and looks at how people use the entrance. The survey is free and carries no obligation. Afterwards you receive a fixed, itemised written quote for accessible door operators, with drawings where the door type needs them.
How are payments structured for work in Belfast?
Payment stages are set out in the quote before you accept it. Larger or made-to-order jobs may involve a deposit and a balance on completion, while smaller jobs may be invoiced once the work is finished. Nothing is charged for the survey itself, and the terms you accept are the terms that apply.
Which accessibility law applies in Belfast?
In Northern Ireland the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 applies, because the Equality Act 2010 does not extend there. Service providers and employers are expected to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and an automatic door is a common one at entrances.
