Coverage across Staffordshire
Our coverage of Staffordshire is not tied to a depot or a showroom. Engineers who carry out automatic door servicing for us travel to each site, so a farm shop down a country lane goes through the same process as a city-centre office. Every job is priced in writing before work starts, and the town list below currently numbers 12.
Towns listed in Staffordshire: Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Burton upon Trent, Cannock, Tamworth, Stafford, Lichfield, Kidsgrove, Burntwood, Rugeley, Leek, Biddulph.
What to think about for automatic door servicing in Staffordshire
- Business parks and retail parks in Staffordshire may have doors owned by the landlord and doors leased with the unit. Check who is responsible for servicing each door before booking.
- Keep the programme switch key and any operator access keys on site. Engineers need them to change modes and test the door properly during the visit.
- Doors on escape routes need their break-out or power-failure opening tested at every service. Tell us which doors serve escape routes so the engineer checks the right functions.
- Doors on busy high streets in Staffordshire can cycle hundreds of times a day. Heavy use wears belts, rollers and floor guides faster, so these doors usually need more frequent visits.
- Care homes and hospitals in Staffordshire often need visits planned around mealtimes, medication rounds and visiting hours, so the door is not out of use at the busiest times.

No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend a safety check by a trained engineer at least once a year, and more frequent visits for busy doors. Repairs found during a service are quoted before they are done.
Standards and rules in England
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.
No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.
How it works
- Explain the problem. Whether the door is stuck, slow, noisy or due its next check, a short description and a few photos tell us which kind of visit to book for automatic door servicing and what to bring.
- Visit cost agreed. You get the visit price in writing before we book the engineer. There are no hidden extras: parts and further work are always quoted separately and in advance.
- Engineer on site. The engineer inspects the operator, sensors, tracks and leaves, carries out the repair or service, and runs the door through its safety tests before it goes back into use.
- Follow-up quoted. You are sent a record of the visit. If something else needs attention, we quote it in writing; for doors on a service plan, the next visit date is noted on the record.
Book a planned service in Staffordshire with the price agreed before the engineer arrives. A written report for each door follows the visit.
Automatic door servicing in Staffordshire: questions
What happens if the service in Staffordshire finds a fault?
The engineer explains what they found and deals with small issues as part of the visit. Worn parts or longer repairs are quoted to you first and only carried out once you agree. The service report records the fault so it can be tracked at later visits.
Can you give me a price for automatic door servicing in Staffordshire?
Our guide starts from £145 excluding VAT (per visit, first door), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £174 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Staffordshire, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.
How often should doors in Staffordshire be serviced?
There is no fixed legal interval. We recommend a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with the interval set by the manufacturer's instructions and how heavily the door is used. Busy entrances, such as shops and surgeries, are often serviced every six months.
Do you service automatic doors in Staffordshire?
Yes. Planned service visits in Staffordshire are carried out by automatic door specialists who work under our management, with us as your contracting party. They service sliding, swing, folding and revolving doors from most makers. The cost of each visit is confirmed in writing before it is booked, and you receive a service report afterwards.
What happens during a visit in Staffordshire?
The engineer checks how the door is operating, diagnoses the fault or carries out the service, and tests the safety sensors and other functions before leaving. On a service visit that includes cleaning, adjustment and lubrication where needed. Anything that cannot be put right on the visit, or that needs parts, is explained and quoted before further work goes ahead.
How is the visit price set for work in Staffordshire?
We agree the visit price with you in writing before an engineer attends. It is based on the type of door, the work requested and the location. If parts or further work are needed once the engineer has found the cause, those are quoted before they are done, so the cost never moves without your agreement.
Do businesses in Staffordshire have to fit automatic doors?
No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
