Covering Hackney and nearby
We cover the whole of the E2, E5, E8, E9 and E20 postcode districts, along with nearby towns in Greater London. You book each visit for automatic door servicing directly with us, and a specialist automatic door engineer working under our management travels to your site on the agreed date.
Many London entrances can only be worked on outside trading hours. For sites in Hackney, early starts, evenings and weekends can be arranged, with any extra cost set out in the written price before the job is confirmed.
Nearby towns we also list for automatic door servicing (straight-line distance): Stratford (2.4 miles), Islington (2.5 miles), Whitechapel (2.6 miles), Leytonstone (2.8 miles), Walthamstow (3.1 miles), the City of London (3.1 miles).
What to think about for automatic door servicing in Hackney
- If several buildings share one maintenance budget, a single contract with one price per door and one set of records is easier to manage than booking visits separately.
- Care homes and hospitals in Hackney often need visits planned around mealtimes, medication rounds and visiting hours, so the door is not out of use at the busiest times.
- Doors on busy high streets in Hackney can cycle hundreds of times a day. Heavy use wears belts, rollers and floor guides faster, so these doors usually need more frequent visits.
- Floors matter. Uneven, worn or newly laid floor finishes can affect floor guides and sensor detection, so mention any recent floor work before the service.
- A logbook kept near the door, or a shared digital folder, makes it simple to show service history in Hackney when an insurer, landlord or inspector asks for it.

No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend a safety check by a trained engineer at least once a year, and more frequent visits for busy doors. Repairs found during a service are quoted before they are done.
Standards and rules in England
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.
No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.
How it works
- Report the fault or service. Let us know whether the door has failed, is behaving oddly or is simply due a service or safety inspection. A short video of the problem helps the engineer prepare for the visit.
- Agree the price first. Before anyone travels to Hackney, the visit price is set out in writing. It is based on the door type, the work requested and the location, so you know the cost in advance.
- Diagnose, repair, test. On site, the engineer finds the cause and puts it right where the parts are to hand, or completes the planned service. Sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour are checked before the door returns to use.
- Paperwork and next steps. A written record of the visit is left with you or sent afterwards. If parts must be ordered or more work is advisable, it is quoted separately and only goes ahead once you accept.
If your doors in Hackney have not been serviced for a while, start with a single visit. The report will show their condition and what, if anything, needs doing.
Automatic door servicing in Hackney: questions
What happens if the service in Hackney finds a fault?
The engineer explains what they found and deals with small issues as part of the visit. Worn parts or longer repairs are quoted to you first and only carried out once you agree. The service report records the fault so it can be tracked at later visits.
How are prices worked out for automatic door servicing in Hackney?
Our guide starts from £145 excluding VAT (per visit, first door), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £174 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Hackney, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.
Do you service revolving and folding doors in Hackney?
Yes, as well as sliding and swing doors. Revolving and folding doors have more moving parts and extra safety devices, so their services take longer and are priced accordingly. The checklist used for each door type is set out in its service report.
Do you service doors in Hackney that another company installed?
Yes. We service most powered pedestrian doors, whoever fitted them. The first visit records each door's make, model, condition and any concerns, so later reports can be compared. If parts are no longer made for one of your doors, we let you know early so a replacement can be planned.
What happens during a visit in Hackney?
The engineer checks how the door is operating, diagnoses the fault or carries out the service, and tests the safety sensors and other functions before leaving. On a service visit that includes cleaning, adjustment and lubrication where needed. Anything that cannot be put right on the visit, or that needs parts, is explained and quoted before further work goes ahead.
How is the visit price set for work in Hackney?
We agree the visit price with you in writing before an engineer attends. It is based on the type of door, the work requested and the location. If parts or further work are needed once the engineer has found the cause, those are quoted before they are done, so the cost never moves without your agreement.
Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Hackney?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
