Coverage across the East Riding of Yorkshire
Wherever you are in the East Riding of Yorkshire, we need the same three things to get started on automatic door servicing: a short description of the door, a few photos if you have them, and the address. From there we agree the price in writing and book a specialist engineer working under our management. Every town listed below has a page of its own, 5 in total.
Towns listed in the East Riding of Yorkshire: Hull, Bridlington, Beverley, Goole, Cottingham.
What to think about for automatic door servicing in the East Riding of Yorkshire
- Care homes and hospitals in the East Riding of Yorkshire often need visits planned around mealtimes, medication rounds and visiting hours, so the door is not out of use at the busiest times.
- Older doors in the East Riding of Yorkshire may need parts replaced more often as they age. A service history that tracks wear helps you budget for repairs or a new drive unit before a breakdown.
- Schools and colleges in the East Riding of Yorkshire often prefer servicing during holidays or after hours. Plan visits early in the year so they fall when the buildings are quiet.
- Exposed entrances collect grit, leaves and rain. Weather-facing doors benefit from extra attention to the floor guide, brush strips and sensor settings at each service.
- Business parks and retail parks in the East Riding of Yorkshire may have doors owned by the landlord and doors leased with the unit. Check who is responsible for servicing each door before booking.

Standards and rules in England
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.
No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.
How it works
- Report the fault or service. Let us know whether the door has failed, is behaving oddly or is simply due a service or safety inspection. A short video of the problem helps the engineer prepare for the visit.
- Agree the price first. Before anyone travels to the East Riding of Yorkshire, the visit price is set out in writing. It is based on the door type, the work requested and the location, so you know the cost in advance.
- Diagnose, repair, test. On site, the engineer finds the cause and puts it right where the parts are to hand, or completes the planned service. Sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour are checked before the door returns to use.
- Paperwork and next steps. A written record of the visit is left with you or sent afterwards. If parts must be ordered or more work is advisable, it is quoted separately and only goes ahead once you accept.

Automatic door servicing in the East Riding of Yorkshire: questions
Can one contract cover all our buildings in the East Riding of Yorkshire and nearby?
Yes. A contract can list every door across your sites, with the visits per year and the price for each door. One schedule and one set of service reports make it easier to keep records complete, and repair visits between services are charged at the contract rates.
How much should I budget for automatic door servicing in the East Riding of Yorkshire?
Our guide starts from £145 excluding VAT (per visit, first door), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £174 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in the East Riding of Yorkshire, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.
Can you service doors in the East Riding of Yorkshire outside opening hours?
Visits early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends can often be arranged where the building needs it, although they may be priced differently. Tell us your opening hours and busiest times when you book, and the visit price we agree will reflect the time slot.
Do you service revolving and folding doors in the East Riding of Yorkshire?
Yes, as well as sliding and swing doors. Revolving and folding doors have more moving parts and extra safety devices, so their services take longer and are priced accordingly. The checklist used for each door type is set out in its service report.
Do you offer service contracts in the East Riding of Yorkshire?
Yes. A service contract sets out how many visits a year each door receives, what each visit includes and the price, all agreed in writing before you sign. Contracts suit sites with several doors or busy entrances, because visits are planned ahead and the records stay in one place. Contract length and notice terms are shown in the agreement.
How often should automatic doors in the East Riding of Yorkshire be serviced?
No law sets a fixed interval. We recommend a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer's instructions and how heavily the door is used; busy doors are often serviced more often. Site staff should also carry out simple regular checks and keep a record of them.
Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in the East Riding of Yorkshire?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
