Coverage across the Bristol area
Wherever you are in the Bristol area, we need the same three things to get started on automatic door servicing: a short description of the door, a few photos if you have them, and the address. From there we agree the price in writing and book a specialist engineer working under our management. Every town listed below has a page of its own, 4 in total.

What to think about for automatic door servicing in the Bristol area
- Schools and colleges in the Bristol area often prefer servicing during holidays or after hours. Plan visits early in the year so they fall when the buildings are quiet.
- Doors on busy high streets in the Bristol area can cycle hundreds of times a day. Heavy use wears belts, rollers and floor guides faster, so these doors usually need more frequent visits.
- Older doors in the Bristol area may need parts replaced more often as they age. A service history that tracks wear helps you budget for repairs or a new drive unit before a breakdown.
- Keep the programme switch key and any operator access keys on site. Engineers need them to change modes and test the door properly during the visit.
- Battery backup units wear out over time. Testing them at each service shows whether the door will still open or close safely in a power cut.

Standards and rules in England
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.
No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.
How it works
- Report the fault or service. Let us know whether the door has failed, is behaving oddly or is simply due a service or safety inspection. A short video of the problem helps the engineer prepare for the visit.
- Agree the price first. Before anyone travels to the Bristol area, the visit price is set out in writing. It is based on the door type, the work requested and the location, so you know the cost in advance.
- Diagnose, repair, test. On site, the engineer finds the cause and puts it right where the parts are to hand, or completes the planned service. Sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour are checked before the door returns to use.
- Paperwork and next steps. A written record of the visit is left with you or sent afterwards. If parts must be ordered or more work is advisable, it is quoted separately and only goes ahead once you accept.

Automatic door servicing in the Bristol area: questions
What happens if the service in the Bristol area finds a fault?
The engineer explains what they found and deals with small issues as part of the visit. Worn parts or longer repairs are quoted to you first and only carried out once you agree. The service report records the fault so it can be tracked at later visits.
Can you give me a price for automatic door servicing in the Bristol area?
Our guide starts from £145 excluding VAT (per visit, first door), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £174 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in the Bristol area, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.
Will servicing help with our insurer or landlord in the Bristol area?
Many insurers and landlords ask for evidence that automatic doors are maintained. A written service report for each door, kept in a logbook or digital folder, is the usual way to show that. If they ask for a risk assessment against BS EN 16005, a safety inspection can be added.
Do you service revolving and folding doors in the Bristol area?
Yes, as well as sliding and swing doors. Revolving and folding doors have more moving parts and extra safety devices, so their services take longer and are priced accordingly. The checklist used for each door type is set out in its service report.
How often should automatic doors in the Bristol area be serviced?
No law sets a fixed interval. We recommend a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer's instructions and how heavily the door is used; busy doors are often serviced more often. Site staff should also carry out simple regular checks and keep a record of them.
Can you price a repair in the Bristol area from photos?
Sometimes. Clear photos of the door, the operator cover and any label showing the make and model, plus a description of what the door is doing, can let us price a likely repair before a visit. Where the cause is not obvious, we agree a diagnostic visit price in writing first and quote the repair afterwards.
Do businesses in the Bristol area have to fit automatic doors?
No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
