Coverage across Lancashire

For automatic door refurbishment anywhere in Lancashire, you deal with one contracting party and one written price. We organise the visit, brief the engineer, who works under our management, and keep the paperwork together afterwards. Below you will find the towns we list in this part of England, 21 in all; if your address sits outside them, the arrangements are exactly the same.

Towns listed in Lancashire: Preston, Burnley, Blackburn, Blackpool, Morecambe, Lancaster, Lytham St Annes, Skelmersdale, Bamber Bridge, Leyland, Accrington, Chorley, Darwen, Thornton-Cleveleys, Nelson, Fleetwood, Ormskirk, Rawtenstall, Colne, Poulton-le-Fylde, Heysham.

What to think about for automatic door refurbishment in Lancashire

  • Glass and made-to-measure leaves are typically 2 to 4 weeks from order. Plan the work around that lead time, especially if a damaged leaf is temporarily boarded.
  • Office blocks and business parks in Lancashire with several matching doors can refurbish them together for a consistent finish and a lower cost per door.
  • Care settings in Lancashire benefit from level thresholds and smooth-running leaves that do not snag walking frames, trolleys or wheelchair footplates as people pass through.
  • Older shopfronts with discontinued door systems may need equivalent parts rather than exact matches. The survey identifies what is still available before anything is ordered.
  • High street doors in Lancashire often have scratched or etched glass from years of cleaning and graffiti. Replacing leaves with new safety glass restores a clean look.

Standards and rules in England

Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible. BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.

Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

How it works

  1. Send photos and the address. A few pictures of the door from both sides, the address in Lancashire and a note of who uses the entrance help us understand the job before anyone visits the site.
  2. No-cost survey on site. We arrange a survey at a time that suits the building. The engineer records measurements, fixings and power, plus any constraints such as listed status, opening hours or access for deliveries.
  3. Itemised quote to approve. We price every element of the work on automatic door refurbishment separately in a written quote that you can check, share and approve. Lead time and payment stages are stated, and nothing is ordered until you accept.
  4. Fit, test and hand over. On the agreed dates the engineer installs the equipment, commissions the operator and tests each safety function. You get a demonstration, the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

Automatic door refurbishment in Lancashire: questions

Will our entrance in Lancashire stay open during refurbishment?

Often, at least in part. Many jobs can be done one leaf at a time, and the work can be planned for quieter hours. If the entrance does need to close, the quote says for how long, so you can arrange another way in for staff and visitors.

What price range should I expect for automatic door refurbishment in Lancashire?

Our guide starts from £395 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Lancashire confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Can you refinish the frame of our door in Lancashire?

Yes. Aluminium frames can be cleaned, repaired and recoated on site to refresh their colour. Badly damaged sections may need replacing rather than refinishing. Refinishing is listed separately in the quote, so you can decide whether to include it now or leave it for a later phase.

Can you refurbish a door in Lancashire that another company installed?

Yes. We refurbish doors whoever fitted them. The survey identifies the door system, and matching or equivalent rollers, guides, seals and glass are then sourced for it. If a part is no longer made, the quote explains the alternative.

What happens once the installation in Lancashire is finished?

The engineer tests every function, including the safety sensors and the behaviour on power loss, and sets the door up with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown how to use the controls and which simple checks to make, and you receive the handover documents, including the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

What do you need from us for parking and access in Lancashire?

Somewhere for the engineer's van as close to the entrance as possible, and a clear working area around the door. If parking is restricted, loading rules apply or the site has security procedures, tell us when you book. Those details go into the plan so the visit is not held up on the day.

Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Lancashire?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
