Automatic door servicing in Lancashire

If your doors in Lancashire were installed by another company, we can still service them. The first visit records each door's make, model and condition, so later service reports can be compared and wear spotted early.

Coverage across Lancashire

There is no branch to visit in Lancashire; instead, specialist engineers working under our management travel to you. That keeps automatic door servicing available across the whole area, including smaller towns and rural addresses. The page for each of the 21 towns we list below sets out nearby places, guide prices and the questions people usually ask.

What to think about for automatic door servicing in Lancashire

  • Battery backup units wear out over time. Testing them at each service shows whether the door will still open or close safely in a power cut.
  • Exposed entrances collect grit, leaves and rain. Weather-facing doors benefit from extra attention to the floor guide, brush strips and sensor settings at each service.
  • Older doors in Lancashire may need parts replaced more often as they age. A service history that tracks wear helps you budget for repairs or a new drive unit before a breakdown.
  • Doors on escape routes need their break-out or power-failure opening tested at every service. Tell us which doors serve escape routes so the engineer checks the right functions.
  • Schools and colleges in Lancashire often prefer servicing during holidays or after hours. Plan visits early in the year so they fall when the buildings are quiet.

No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend a safety check by a trained engineer at least once a year, and more frequent visits for busy doors. Repairs found during a service are quoted before they are done.

Standards and rules in England

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.

No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.

How it works

  1. Make contact. Phone, email or use the form. Tell us the type of door, what it is doing and whether it is safe to use, so the right visit for automatic door servicing can be planned.
  2. Written visit price. The cost of attending is agreed in writing before the visit is booked. For a planned service or inspection, the price per door and what each visit includes are set out at the same time.
  3. On-site work. The engineer, working under our management, checks the door from end to end, deals with the fault or the service, and tests every safety function and sensor setting before signing the door off.
  4. Report and quote. You receive a report of the findings. Where a repair, part or upgrade is recommended, it is quoted in writing so you can decide, and the door is left in a safe state if it cannot be used.

Automatic door servicing in Lancashire: questions

Do you service doors in Lancashire that another company installed?

Yes. We service most powered pedestrian doors, whoever fitted them. The first visit records each door's make, model, condition and any concerns, so later reports can be compared. If parts are no longer made for one of your doors, we let you know early so a replacement can be planned.

What price range should I expect for automatic door servicing in Lancashire?

Our guide starts from £145 excluding VAT (per visit, first door), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £174 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Lancashire, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.

How often should doors in Lancashire be serviced?

There is no fixed legal interval. We recommend a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with the interval set by the manufacturer's instructions and how heavily the door is used. Busy entrances, such as shops and surgeries, are often serviced every six months.

What happens if the service in Lancashire finds a fault?

The engineer explains what they found and deals with small issues as part of the visit. Worn parts or longer repairs are quoted to you first and only carried out once you agree. The service report records the fault so it can be tracked at later visits.

How soon can an engineer get to Lancashire?

We do not promise response times. When you book, we give you the earliest date we can offer and confirm it once the price is agreed. If the door is unsafe in the meantime, it is usually best to switch it off or set it to a safe mode, put up a sign and keep people clear of it.

Can you price a repair in Lancashire from photos?

Sometimes. Clear photos of the door, the operator cover and any label showing the make and model, plus a description of what the door is doing, can let us price a likely repair before a visit. Where the cause is not obvious, we agree a diagnostic visit price in writing first and quote the repair afterwards.

Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Lancashire?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
