Automatic door refurbishment in March

For care homes, surgeries and public buildings in March, a worn threshold or a door that drags makes entry harder for wheelchair users. Refurbishment can level the threshold, renew the floor guides and restore smooth, quiet running.

Covering March and nearby

We do not keep premises in March. Instead, enquiries about automatic door refurbishment come to us, we agree the price in writing, and a specialist engineer working under our management travels to the address in the PE15 postcode district on a date that suits the site.

Many buildings in March are older, with timber frames, thick walls, steps or uneven thresholds. These affect where an operator and sensors can go, and the engineer checks them on site before anything is fitted or adjusted.

Nearby towns we also list for automatic door refurbishment (straight-line distance): Wisbech (8.5 miles), Ely (12.8 miles), Peterborough (14.2 miles), King's Lynn (18.9 miles), Spalding (19.1 miles), Huntingdon (19.2 miles).

What to think about for automatic door refurbishment in March

  • Office blocks and business parks in March with several matching doors can refurbish them together for a consistent finish and a lower cost per door.
  • After refurbishment, sensors and speeds are reset to suit the new parts. Keep the test record with your service history so later engineers can see what was done.
  • High street doors in March often have scratched or etched glass from years of cleaning and graffiti. Replacing leaves with new safety glass restores a clean look.
  • Older shopfronts with discontinued door systems may need equivalent parts rather than exact matches. The survey identifies what is still available before anything is ordered.
  • Listed buildings and conservation areas can limit changes to how the frame looks. Refurbishment within the existing frame usually avoids those issues and any need for consent.

Standards and rules in England

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible. BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.

How it works

  1. Get in touch. Call, email or use the form with the address and what you have in mind. If you are not sure which type of door suits, describe the entrance and we will suggest the options worth considering.
  2. Survey and advice. The survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. The engineer checks the site and explains which options suit the entrance, the people using it and the budget, before anything is priced.
  3. Quote in writing. You receive a fixed, itemised quote for automatic door refurbishment in March, covering equipment, installation, testing and handover, with the lead time and payment stages set out clearly.
  4. Install, test, explain. The engineer installs and commissions the door, tests the sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour, and walks you through the controls. The handover pack records what was installed and tested.

Send us photos of the door that needs attention in March, and we will arrange a survey at no cost and an itemised quote for the work.

Automatic door refurbishment in March: questions

Do you set up the door again after refurbishing it in March?

Yes. New running parts change how the leaves move, so speeds, sensor zones and obstacle detection are checked and reset before handover. You receive a record of the parts fitted and the test results to keep with the door's service history.

What do you charge for automatic door refurbishment in March?

Our guide starts from £395 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in March confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Is it worth refurbishing an old door at our premises in March?

If the frame is sound and the opening size still works, usually yes, as refurbishment costs far less than a new door. If the frame is corroded, the glass is not safety glass or the opening is too narrow, a new door may be better value, and the survey tells you which.

Can you refinish the frame of our door in March?

Yes. Aluminium frames can be cleaned, repaired and recoated on site to refresh their colour. Badly damaged sections may need replacing rather than refinishing. Refinishing is listed separately in the quote, so you can decide whether to include it now or leave it for a later phase.

Is there a warranty on automatic door refurbishment?

Yes. The warranty terms for the equipment and the installation are set out in your written quote, so you can see exactly what is covered before you accept. Keeping the door serviced at the recommended intervals helps keep it in good order, and the quote explains any conditions that apply to the warranty.

What does the free site survey in March involve?

An engineer working under our management visits the building, measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power supply, and looks at how people use the entrance. The survey is free and carries no obligation. Afterwards you receive a fixed, itemised written quote for automatic door refurbishment, with drawings where the door type needs them.

Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in March?

In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
