Coverage across Surrey

Wherever you are in Surrey, we need the same three things to get started on revolving doors: a short description of the door, a few photos if you have them, and the address. From there we agree the price in writing and book a specialist engineer working under our management. Every town listed below has a page of its own, 21 in total.

Towns listed in Surrey: Woking, Guildford, Redhill, Staines-upon-Thames, Leatherhead, Ewell, Farnham, Epsom, Camberley, Egham, Sunbury-on-Thames, Ashford, Walton-on-Thames, Godalming, Reigate, Horley, Caterham, Weybridge, Molesey, Dorking, Haslemere.

What to think about for revolving doors in Surrey

  • Busy reception areas in Surrey may want to keep people moving during installation week. A second entrance, temporary signs and staged work all help visitors find their way in.
  • Hotel entrances in Surrey see guests with large cases and families with pushchairs. A larger three-wing automatic door and a clearly signed pass door keep the flow moving.
  • The fire strategy decides how people will escape. Agree with your fire risk assessor where the pass door and other exits will be before the revolving door is designed.
  • Revolving doors with curved glass drum walls have longer lead times. Allow for them in any refurbishment programme across Surrey, and confirm dates before booking floor layers or shopfitters.
  • Automatic revolving doors need power to the canopy and links to the fire alarm and access control. Plan cable routes before ceilings are closed in.

Standards and rules in England

Building regulations guidance treats revolving doors as not accessible on their own, so an accessible powered swing or sliding door should be provided alongside. In England, fire safety law says sliding or revolving doors must not be used for exits specifically intended as emergency exits.

In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.

How it works

  1. Get in touch. Call, email or use the form with the address and what you have in mind. If you are not sure which type of door suits, describe the entrance and we will suggest the options worth considering.
  2. Survey and advice. The survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. The engineer checks the site and explains which options suit the entrance, the people using it and the budget, before anything is priced.
  3. Quote in writing. You receive a fixed, itemised quote for revolving doors in Surrey, covering equipment, installation, testing and handover, with the lead time and payment stages set out clearly.
  4. Install, test, explain. The engineer installs and commissions the door, tests the sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour, and walks you through the controls. The handover pack records what was installed and tested.

Tell us about your entrance in Surrey, its size and how busy it gets, and we will arrange a free survey for a revolving door and pass door.

Revolving doors in Surrey: questions

Should we choose manual or automatic for our building in Surrey?

Manual doors suit smaller entrances with steady traffic and are simpler to maintain. Automatic doors suit busier entrances and visitors with luggage, and add sensors, stop buttons and a slow-speed mode. We explain the difference at the survey and recommend the type that fits how your entrance is used.

How are prices worked out for revolving doors in Surrey?

Our guide is £29,995 to £59,995 excluding VAT (per automatic door), the same guide prices we use across the UK. The free site survey in Surrey confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Do we need a pass door beside a revolving door in Surrey?

In practice, yes. A revolving door is not accessible on its own, so an accessible powered swing or sliding door should be provided alongside for wheelchair users, pushchairs, deliveries and anyone who needs it. It also usually forms part of the escape strategy. We design and quote both together.

Is the survey for a revolving door in Surrey free?

Yes. For a new revolving door and pass door, the survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. We look at the space, structure, floor, traffic and fire strategy, then send drawings and a fixed, itemised written quote. Each item is listed separately, which makes it easy to compare with other quotes.

What happens once the installation in Surrey is finished?

The engineer tests every function, including the safety sensors and the behaviour on power loss, and sets the door up with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown how to use the controls and which simple checks to make, and you receive the handover documents, including the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

What do you need from us for parking and access in Surrey?

Somewhere for the engineer's van as close to the entrance as possible, and a clear working area around the door. If parking is restricted, loading rules apply or the site has security procedures, tell us when you book. Those details go into the plan so the visit is not held up on the day.

Do businesses in Surrey have to fit automatic doors?

No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
