Coverage across Nottinghamshire
Wherever you are in Nottinghamshire, we need the same three things to get started on safety and compliance upgrades: a short description of the door, a few photos if you have them, and the address. From there we agree the price in writing and book a specialist engineer working under our management. Every town listed below has a page of its own, 14 in total.

What to think about for safety and compliance upgrades in Nottinghamshire
- Schools and nurseries need particular attention to finger traps at hinges and beside screens, where small children's hands could easily be caught as the door moves.
- After upgrades, keep the record with your inspection report. Matching each change to its finding shows the actions have been closed off, which insurers often ask to see.
- Doors serving care homes and hospitals in Nottinghamshire may need wider safety zones and gentler closing speeds for residents and patients who move slowly or need help.
- If your building in Nottinghamshire has one main entrance, battery backup lets the door open safely in a power cut, so there is always a way in and out.
- Glass doors need visible markings. Faded manifestation is one of the cheapest findings to fix, and it helps people with visual impairments see the door.

Standards and rules in England
Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible. BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.
Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.
How it works
- Start with a short enquiry. Use the form, phone or email. Tell us whether the work is a new door, an upgrade or an opener for a home, and we arrange the next step for your site in Nottinghamshire.
- Measured survey. The free survey confirms what will fit and what the entrance needs: opening width, door type, activation, safety sensors and behaviour on power loss or fire alarm, matched to how the building is used.
- Written price, no surprises. A fixed, itemised quote sets out the specification, the work involved, the expected lead time and the warranty terms. You can ask questions or change the specification before accepting it.
- Installed and commissioned. The door is installed with as little disruption as possible, then set up and tested for its hazard zones. Before leaving, the engineer explains the controls and hands over the documents for your records.
Send us your inspection report for doors in Nottinghamshire, and we will arrange a free survey and quote each upgrade as a separate item.
Safety and compliance upgrades in Nottinghamshire: questions
How long do upgrades take at premises in Nottinghamshire?
Most single-door upgrades take one visit of a few hours. Parts such as light curtains and battery units are typically 1 to 3 weeks to arrive after the quote is accepted. Larger packages are planned with you so the entrance stays usable wherever possible.
Is there a guide price for safety and compliance upgrades in Nottinghamshire?
Our guide starts from £195 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Nottinghamshire confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Can upgrades in Nottinghamshire be phased over time?
Yes. Each item is priced separately, so you can start with the high-priority findings and plan the rest for later, often at the next service visit. Your quote shows which items are urgent and which can sensibly wait, so you can budget for each phase.
Is it cheaper to upgrade or replace our old door in Nottinghamshire?
Upgrading is usually cheaper when the door and operator are sound. If the operator is old and several upgrades are needed, a new drive unit with new sensors may be better value overall. The survey compares the options, and the quote can show both so you can decide.
Can installation in Nottinghamshire happen outside opening hours?
Yes. Many shops, surgeries and offices prefer work early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends, when the entrance is quietest. Tell us your constraints when you enquire and they are built into the plan. Any extra cost for out-of-hours work is shown in the written quote rather than added afterwards.
What does the written quote for safety and compliance upgrades in Nottinghamshire include?
The quote lists each item separately: the door or equipment, installation, electrical connections where we provide them, removal of anything being replaced, testing and handover. It is a fixed price for the work described, so it does not change unless the scope changes, and any change is agreed with you in writing first.
Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in Nottinghamshire?
In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
