Covering Leeds and nearby

Engineers working under our management travel to addresses across the LS1, LS2, LS3, LS4, LS6 and LS13 postcode districts for automatic door repairs. There is no depot or showroom in Leeds; you arrange everything with us by phone, email or the form on this page, and we confirm the price in writing first.

Hospitals, universities and large public buildings in and around Leeds often have dozens of automatic doors on one estate, from main entrances to ward and corridor doors. Grouping surveys, servicing and inspections across a site keeps records in one place and visits efficient.

Nearby towns we also list for automatic door repairs (straight-line distance): Rothwell (4.4 miles), Morley (4.4 miles), Pudsey (4.6 miles), Horsforth (4.9 miles), Batley (7.4 miles), Yeadon (7.4 miles).

What to think about for automatic door repairs in Leeds

  • Shopping parades and business parks in Leeds can have restricted parking or loading. Tell us where an engineer can park and unload tools when you book the visit.
  • Leisure centres, schools and public buildings in Leeds may need a contractor induction or permit before work starts. Send any site rules with your booking so the visit can go ahead first time.
  • Busy high street shops in Leeds lose trade quickly when the entrance fails. Keep the programme switch key where staff can find it, so the door can be set to a safe mode while you wait.
  • Rule out the simple things. Check whether the door's isolator or fused spur has been switched off, and whether other equipment on the same circuit has also stopped working.
  • Wet and windy weather causes many false openings. Sensors over exposed entrances can react to rain and blowing leaves, and a small change to the detection zone often cures it.

Standards and rules in England

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.

How it works

  1. Explain the problem. Whether the door is stuck, slow, noisy or due its next check, a short description and a few photos tell us which kind of visit to book for automatic door repairs and what to bring.
  2. Visit cost agreed. You get the visit price in writing before we book the engineer. There are no hidden extras: parts and further work are always quoted separately and in advance.
  3. Engineer on site. The engineer inspects the operator, sensors, tracks and leaves, carries out the repair or service, and runs the door through its safety tests before it goes back into use.
  4. Follow-up quoted. You are sent a record of the visit. If something else needs attention, we quote it in writing; for doors on a service plan, the next visit date is noted on the record.

Get your entrance working again. Describe the fault at your premises in Leeds and we will tell you what the visit costs and when an engineer can attend.

Automatic door repairs in Leeds: questions

Do you keep records of repairs for buildings in Leeds?

Yes. Each visit produces a written report of the fault found, the work done and any parts fitted or recommended. Facilities teams can keep these with the door's service records, which helps show the door is being maintained and makes repeat faults easier to trace.

What price range should I expect for automatic door repairs in Leeds?

Our guide starts from £95 excluding VAT (visit including the first hour), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £114 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Leeds, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.

Can you repair revolving doors in Leeds?

Yes. The engineers we send work on automatic and manual revolving doors as well as sliding and swing doors. Revolving doors have extra safety devices, such as stop buttons and edge sensors, which are all tested after a repair. Parts for some revolving doors take longer to source, so photos of the drive and control panel help us prepare.

Do you repair automatic doors in Leeds?

Yes. We take the booking, agree the price and manage the job, and the visit in Leeds is made by a specialist automatic door engineer working under our management. The engineers we send work on sliding, swing, folding and revolving doors from most makers, including doors we did not install. The visit price is confirmed with you in writing before the engineer is booked.

Do you offer service contracts in Leeds?

Yes. A service contract sets out how many visits a year each door receives, what each visit includes and the price, all agreed in writing before you sign. Contracts suit sites with several doors or busy entrances, because visits are planned ahead and the records stay in one place. Contract length and notice terms are shown in the agreement.

Are parts quoted before they are fitted?

Always. If a repair or service in Leeds needs parts, such as rollers, belts, sensors, a control board or a motor, we quote them in writing first. Some common parts may be on the engineer's van; others are ordered once you accept the quote and fitted on a return visit at a price already agreed.

Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Leeds?

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
