Coverage across South Yorkshire
Wherever you are in South Yorkshire, we need the same three things to get started on automatic door repairs: a short description of the door, a few photos if you have them, and the address. From there we agree the price in writing and book a specialist engineer working under our management. Every town listed below has a page of its own, 8 in total.
Towns listed in South Yorkshire: Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Chapeltown, Rawmarsh, Maltby, Thorne.
What to think about for automatic door repairs in South Yorkshire
- For surgeries, clinics and care settings in South Yorkshire, a door that will not open can stop wheelchair users getting in. Plan an alternative accessible entrance and clear signs while the repair is arranged.
- Doors knocked by trolleys, pushchairs or deliveries often go out of line. Repeated impacts damage rollers and floor guides, so it helps to know roughly when the fault first appeared.
- A door with battery backup may show a fault, or fail to open in a power cut, when its battery is worn out. Batteries are a routine replacement part rather than a major repair.
- Opening hours matter when booking a repair in South Yorkshire. If your premises close early or open late, mention it so the engineer can work while the entrance is quiet.
- Leisure centres, schools and public buildings in South Yorkshire may need a contractor induction or permit before work starts. Send any site rules with your booking so the visit can go ahead first time.

Standards and rules in England
Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.
No law sets a fixed service interval. We recommend that a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer’s instructions and how heavily the door is used, and that someone on site carries out simple regular checks and keeps a record.
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.
How it works
- Report the fault or service. Let us know whether the door has failed, is behaving oddly or is simply due a service or safety inspection. A short video of the problem helps the engineer prepare for the visit.
- Agree the price first. Before anyone travels to South Yorkshire, the visit price is set out in writing. It is based on the door type, the work requested and the location, so you know the cost in advance.
- Diagnose, repair, test. On site, the engineer finds the cause and puts it right where the parts are to hand, or completes the planned service. Sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour are checked before the door returns to use.
- Paperwork and next steps. A written record of the visit is left with you or sent afterwards. If parts must be ordered or more work is advisable, it is quoted separately and only goes ahead once you accept.

Automatic door repairs in South Yorkshire: questions
Is it safe to keep using a faulty automatic door in South Yorkshire?
It depends on the fault. A slow or noisy door may be safe to use until the visit, but a door that strikes people, closes unexpectedly or has damaged glass should be switched off and kept clear. If you are unsure, switch it off and use another entrance until an engineer has checked it.
What price range should I expect for automatic door repairs in South Yorkshire?
Our guide starts from £95 excluding VAT (visit including the first hour), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £114 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in South Yorkshire, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.
Do you repair automatic doors in South Yorkshire?
Yes. We take the booking, agree the price and manage the job, and the visit in South Yorkshire is made by a specialist automatic door engineer working under our management. The engineers we send work on sliding, swing, folding and revolving doors from most makers, including doors we did not install. The visit price is confirmed with you in writing before the engineer is booked.
Can you repair revolving doors in South Yorkshire?
Yes. The engineers we send work on automatic and manual revolving doors as well as sliding and swing doors. Revolving doors have extra safety devices, such as stop buttons and edge sensors, which are all tested after a repair. Parts for some revolving doors take longer to source, so photos of the drive and control panel help us prepare.
Can visits in South Yorkshire be arranged outside working hours?
Yes, where the site needs it. Early-morning, evening and weekend visits can be arranged for shops, surgeries and offices that cannot lose their entrance during the day. Any difference in price for out-of-hours attendance is agreed in writing before the visit is booked, alongside the standard visit price.
Are parts quoted before they are fitted?
Always. If a repair or service in South Yorkshire needs parts, such as rollers, belts, sensors, a control board or a motor, we quote them in writing first. Some common parts may be on the engineer's van; others are ordered once you accept the quote and fitted on a return visit at a price already agreed.
Can a home in South Yorkshire get help paying for a door opener?
Possibly. In England a Disabled Facilities Grant of up to £30,000 can fund adaptations that make it easier to get in and out of a home. It is means-tested and must be approved by the council before work starts, so ask your council and occupational therapist.
