Covering Crosby and nearby

Sites across the L22 and L23 postcode districts are visited by specialist automatic door engineers working under our management. They travel to Crosby for automatic door repairs as bookings come in, so dates depend on the diary rather than a fixed local team, and we give you the earliest date we can offer when you book.

Parking on a busy high street can be tight. When work is booked in Crosby, the engineer's arrival is planned around loading restrictions, any market days and opening hours, so the visit causes as little disruption as possible.

Nearby towns we also list for automatic door repairs (straight-line distance): Bootle (1.0 miles), Litherland (1.5 miles), Wallasey (4.0 miles), Maghull (4.6 miles), Liverpool (5.2 miles), Formby (5.8 miles).

What to think about for automatic door repairs in Crosby

  • Leisure centres, schools and public buildings in Crosby may need a contractor induction or permit before work starts. Send any site rules with your booking so the visit can go ahead first time.
  • Rule out the simple things. Check whether the door's isolator or fused spur has been switched off, and whether other equipment on the same circuit has also stopped working.
  • Opening hours matter when booking a repair in Crosby. If your premises close early or open late, mention it so the engineer can work while the entrance is quiet.
  • Wet and windy weather causes many false openings. Sensors over exposed entrances can react to rain and blowing leaves, and a small change to the detection zone often cures it.
  • Doors knocked by trolleys, pushchairs or deliveries often go out of line. Repeated impacts damage rollers and floor guides, so it helps to know roughly when the fault first appeared.

Standards and rules in England

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.

How it works

  1. Report the fault or service. Let us know whether the door has failed, is behaving oddly or is simply due a service or safety inspection. A short video of the problem helps the engineer prepare for the visit.
  2. Agree the price first. Before anyone travels to Crosby, the visit price is set out in writing. It is based on the door type, the work requested and the location, so you know the cost in advance.
  3. Diagnose, repair, test. On site, the engineer finds the cause and puts it right where the parts are to hand, or completes the planned service. Sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour are checked before the door returns to use.
  4. Paperwork and next steps. A written record of the visit is left with you or sent afterwards. If parts must be ordered or more work is advisable, it is quoted separately and only goes ahead once you accept.

For a written repair price in Crosby, tell us the make of the door, what it is doing and whether it is stuck open, stuck shut or unsafe.

Automatic door repairs in Crosby: questions

Do engineers carry spare parts for doors in Crosby?

Engineers carry common parts such as sensors, belts and some rollers. Controllers, motors and parts for less common doors are ordered once the fault is confirmed, and delivery is typically 1 to 3 weeks. Knowing the make and model in advance improves the chance of a repair during the first visit.

What do you charge for automatic door repairs in Crosby?

Our guide starts from £95 excluding VAT (visit including the first hour), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £114 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Crosby, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.

Can you tell me the cost before visiting my premises in Crosby?

We always confirm the visit price before attending. For some faults, photos of the door and the operator label let us price the repair itself in advance. Where the cause needs testing on site, parts and extra work are quoted after diagnosis and only go ahead if you agree.

Do you keep records of repairs for buildings in Crosby?

Yes. Each visit produces a written report of the fault found, the work done and any parts fitted or recommended. Facilities teams can keep these with the door's service records, which helps show the door is being maintained and makes repeat faults easier to trace.

Do you leave a written record after each visit in Crosby?

Yes. Every visit ends with a written record of what was checked, what was done and anything that still needs attention. For safety inspections you receive a report of the findings and a site-specific risk assessment. Keeping these on file is the usual way to show that a workplace door is maintained and in good working order.

How soon can an engineer get to Crosby?

We do not promise response times. When you book, we give you the earliest date we can offer and confirm it once the price is agreed. If the door is unsafe in the meantime, it is usually best to switch it off or set it to a safe mode, put up a sign and keep people clear of it.

Do businesses in Crosby have to fit automatic doors?

No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
