Covering Stratford and nearby

Addresses anywhere in the E15 postcode district can book automatic door repairs through us. The engineer who attends works under our management and travels to the site. There is no branch in Stratford, so the price, the booking and the paperwork all come from one place.

Mixed-use blocks in Stratford, with shops or offices at ground level and flats above, often have communal entrances run by a managing agent. Doors there have to suit residents, deliveries and visitors, and approval from the freeholder or agent usually comes before work starts.

Nearby towns we also list for automatic door repairs (straight-line distance): Canning Town (1.6 miles), Canary Wharf (2.1 miles), East Ham (2.1 miles), Hackney (2.4 miles), Leytonstone (2.5 miles), Whitechapel (3.1 miles).

What to think about for automatic door repairs in Stratford

  • A door with battery backup may show a fault, or fail to open in a power cut, when its battery is worn out. Batteries are a routine replacement part rather than a major repair.
  • Glass damage needs prompt action to keep people safe. Switch the door off, keep people back from the broken leaf and tape or board the glass if that can be done safely.
  • Leisure centres, schools and public buildings in Stratford may need a contractor induction or permit before work starts. Send any site rules with your booking so the visit can go ahead first time.
  • Shopping parades and business parks in Stratford can have restricted parking or loading. Tell us where an engineer can park and unload tools when you book the visit.
  • Opening hours matter when booking a repair in Stratford. If your premises close early or open late, mention it so the engineer can work while the entrance is quiet.

Standards and rules in England

Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance. HSE guidance on those regulations says the frequency of maintenance depends on the equipment and the manufacturer’s information.

BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them. Standards are not retrospective, so an older door does not become unlawful when a standard is updated; a site-specific risk assessment shows whether any upgrades are sensible.

How it works

  1. Make contact. Phone, email or use the form. Tell us the type of door, what it is doing and whether it is safe to use, so the right visit for automatic door repairs can be planned.
  2. Written visit price. The cost of attending is agreed in writing before the visit is booked. For a planned service or inspection, the price per door and what each visit includes are set out at the same time.
  3. On-site work. The engineer, working under our management, checks the door from end to end, deals with the fault or the service, and tests every safety function and sensor setting before signing the door off.
  4. Report and quote. You receive a report of the findings. Where a repair, part or upgrade is recommended, it is quoted in writing so you can decide, and the door is left in a safe state if it cannot be used.

For a written repair price in Stratford, tell us the make of the door, what it is doing and whether it is stuck open, stuck shut or unsafe.

Automatic door repairs in Stratford: questions

Is it safe to keep using a faulty automatic door in Stratford?

It depends on the fault. A slow or noisy door may be safe to use until the visit, but a door that strikes people, closes unexpectedly or has damaged glass should be switched off and kept clear. If you are unsure, switch it off and use another entrance until an engineer has checked it.

How are prices worked out for automatic door repairs in Stratford?

Our guide starts from £95 excluding VAT (visit including the first hour), the same guide price we use across the UK. For homes that is from £114 including VAT. We agree the visit price in writing before an engineer attends in Stratford, and quote any parts or further work before doing them. The price guide lists typical repair and service costs.

Do engineers carry spare parts for doors in Stratford?

Engineers carry common parts such as sensors, belts and some rollers. Controllers, motors and parts for less common doors are ordered once the fault is confirmed, and delivery is typically 1 to 3 weeks. Knowing the make and model in advance improves the chance of a repair during the first visit.

Can you tell me the cost before visiting my premises in Stratford?

We always confirm the visit price before attending. For some faults, photos of the door and the operator label let us price the repair itself in advance. Where the cause needs testing on site, parts and extra work are quoted after diagnosis and only go ahead if you agree.

Can you price a repair in Stratford from photos?

Sometimes. Clear photos of the door, the operator cover and any label showing the make and model, plus a description of what the door is doing, can let us price a likely repair before a visit. Where the cause is not obvious, we agree a diagnostic visit price in writing first and quote the repair afterwards.

Are parts quoted before they are fitted?

Always. If a repair or service in Stratford needs parts, such as rollers, belts, sensors, a control board or a motor, we quote them in writing first. Some common parts may be on the engineer's van; others are ordered once you accept the quote and fitted on a return visit at a price already agreed.

Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in Stratford?

In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
