Covering Liverpool and nearby
Homes, businesses and public buildings throughout the L1, L2, L3, L5, L6 and L7 postcode districts can arrange access control for automatic doors with us. We are the contracting party and organise every visit; the engineer, who works under our management, travels in to Liverpool for the job rather than working from premises in town.
Hospitals, universities and large public buildings in and around Liverpool often have dozens of automatic doors on one estate, from main entrances to ward and corridor doors. Grouping surveys, servicing and inspections across a site keeps records in one place and visits efficient.
Nearby towns we also list for access control for automatic doors (straight-line distance): Birkenhead (1.9 miles), Wallasey (3.7 miles), Litherland (4.2 miles), Bootle (4.2 miles), Bebington (4.5 miles), Crosby (5.2 miles).
What to think about for access control for automatic doors in Liverpool
- Offices on business parks in Liverpool often share entrances between tenants. Agree whose system controls the door, who pays for it and who can add or remove cards.
- Cable routes matter. Running cables between a reader, a controller and the operator through finished walls and ceilings can be a large share of the cost.
- Glass entrances may not have an obvious place for a reader. A post-mounted reader, or one fitted to a side screen, can avoid drilling into the door frame.
- Residential blocks in Liverpool usually have a managing agent or housing provider who sets the rules for fobs, visitors and fire alarm behaviour. Involve them early.
- A video entry system needs a network or cable link between the door and wherever visitors are answered. Check the route before the survey, especially across car parks or between buildings.

Standards and rules in England
Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.
Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.
How it works
- Send photos and the address. A few pictures of the door from both sides, the address in Liverpool and a note of who uses the entrance help us understand the job before anyone visits the site.
- No-cost survey on site. We arrange a survey at a time that suits the building. The engineer records measurements, fixings and power, plus any constraints such as listed status, opening hours or access for deliveries.
- Itemised quote to approve. We price every element of the work on access control for automatic doors separately in a written quote that you can check, share and approve. Lead time and payment stages are stated, and nothing is ordered until you accept.
- Fit, test and hand over. On the agreed dates the engineer installs the equipment, commissions the operator and tests each safety function. You get a demonstration, the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

Access control for automatic doors in Liverpool: questions
Do you work with our security installer in Liverpool?
Yes. Where a security installer already looks after your access control, we usually handle the door, the lock and the link to the operator, and they handle the reader, controller and permissions. The quote sets out who does what so nothing falls between the two.
What price range should I expect for access control for automatic doors in Liverpool?
Our guide starts from £795 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Liverpool confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Can you fit fob entry to a residential block in Liverpool?
Yes. We can fit fob readers and video entry to an automatic communal door, set up so residents use fobs and visitors call the flat. Fire alarm and power-loss behaviour are agreed with the managing agent or housing provider before we commission the door.
Can you service the door and access control in Liverpool together?
We can service the door and test the link to the access control on each visit, leaving a written record. Visits are chargeable and priced in writing before anyone attends. If your security installer looks after the system, we can coordinate visits with them.
Will the building stay secure while the entrance is being changed?
We plan to keep the entrance usable or secure throughout. Where a door has to come out, the work is sequenced so the opening is closed up before the engineer leaves, or a temporary door or hoarding is arranged when a longer gap cannot be avoided. How this is handled for your site in Liverpool is agreed before work starts.
Can installation in Liverpool happen outside opening hours?
Yes. Many shops, surgeries and offices prefer work early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends, when the entrance is quietest. Tell us your constraints when you enquire and they are built into the plan. Any extra cost for out-of-hours work is shown in the written quote rather than added afterwards.
Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in Liverpool?
In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
