Telescopic sliding doors in County Antrim

When a shop unit or reception in County Antrim has its opening close to a corner, a column or a neighbouring window, ordinary sliding leaves often have nowhere to park. Telescopic leaves need far less wall, and our free survey shows exactly how much doorway you gain.

What to think about for telescopic sliding doors in County Antrim

  • A telescopic header is deeper than a standard one. In older buildings in County Antrim with low ceilings or decorative fanlights, the survey checks whether the header can sit above the opening or needs to be recessed.
  • Floor guides on two sets of leaves need a level, firm floor. Cracked screed, rocking tiles or a sloping threshold should be put right before fitting, and the quote will say who does it.
  • Shop units in County Antrim that trade late or open early may want installation outside trading hours. Early starts and weekend work can usually be arranged and are shown as a separate line in the quote.
  • Entrances used by ambulances and patient transport in County Antrim benefit from a full-opening button for crews, while everyday visitors use a narrower partial opening that keeps the waiting area warmer.
  • Hospital and supermarket entrances in County Antrim that run for long hours put more wear on the extra rollers and belts of a telescopic door. Plan a servicing arrangement from the start rather than waiting for the first fault.

Standards and rules in Northern Ireland

The Building Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 require a powered door to have a means to prevent it trapping anyone and a means to open it if the power fails. Guidance on access to buildings is in Technical Booklet R, and building control approval is needed for new entrances.

In Northern Ireland machinery, including a new or converted powered door, carries the CE marking (with UKNI added where a UK body carried out the conformity assessment), and the EU Machinery Regulation applies there from 20 January 2027. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

In Northern Ireland, disability access duties come from the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, because the Equality Act 2010 does not apply there. Service providers and employers are expected to make reasonable adjustments, and an automatic door is a common one at entrances. New entrances and some alterations need building control approval in Northern Ireland, so check with your council’s building control before the work is ordered.

How it works

  1. Get in touch. Call, email or use the form with the address and what you have in mind. If you are not sure which type of door suits, describe the entrance and we will suggest the options worth considering.
  2. Survey and advice. The survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. The engineer checks the site and explains which options suit the entrance, the people using it and the budget, before anything is priced.
  3. Quote in writing. You receive a fixed, itemised quote for telescopic sliding doors in County Antrim, covering equipment, installation, testing and handover, with the lead time and payment stages set out clearly.
  4. Install, test, explain. The engineer installs and commissions the door, tests the sensors, safety functions and emergency behaviour, and walks you through the controls. The handover pack records what was installed and tested.

Tell us the width you need and the space either side, and we will arrange a free survey in County Antrim for a telescopic sliding door.

Telescopic sliding doors in County Antrim: questions

What paperwork do we get after installation in County Antrim?

You receive the commissioning and test record, a site-specific risk assessment, user instructions and the conformity paperwork for the door. Keep them with your building records. They are the starting point for later servicing and safety inspections, and they show how the door was set up with reference to BS EN 16005.

What will telescopic sliding doors in County Antrim cost?

Our guide starts from £6,995 excluding VAT (per door set), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in County Antrim confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Is the telescopic door survey in County Antrim really free?

Yes, for a new telescopic entrance the site survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. The engineer measures the opening, checks the structure, floor and power, and talks through layouts. You then receive a measured drawing and a fixed, itemised written quote, and you decide whether to go ahead.

Can you look after the door in County Antrim once it is installed?

Yes. We can quote planned servicing for the new door, with each visit priced in writing beforehand and the interval set by how heavily the door is used and the manufacturer's instructions. Busy entrances such as hospitals and supermarkets are usually serviced more often than quieter offices.

Can installation in County Antrim happen outside opening hours?

Yes. Many shops, surgeries and offices prefer work early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends, when the entrance is quietest. Tell us your constraints when you enquire and they are built into the plan. Any extra cost for out-of-hours work is shown in the written quote rather than added afterwards.

Can automatic doors be fitted to a listed building in County Antrim?

Often, yes, but listed building consent is normally needed for changes that affect the character of the building, inside or out. Slim operators, concealed fixings and automating the existing door can all reduce the visual impact. Speak to the conservation officer at the local planning authority early; we can provide drawings and specifications to help.

Which marking should a new automatic door in County Antrim carry?

In Northern Ireland machinery carries the CE marking, with UKNI added where a UK body carried out the conformity assessment. The EU Machinery Regulation applies in Northern Ireland from 20 January 2027.
