Covering Grimsby and nearby

Sites across the DN31, DN32, DN33 and DN34 postcode districts are visited by specialist automatic door engineers working under our management. They travel to Grimsby for revolving doors as bookings come in, so dates depend on the diary rather than a fixed local team, and we give you the earliest date we can offer when you book.

Schools and colleges in and around Grimsby often want work done in the holidays, when entrances can be taken out of use without disrupting pupils. Planning ahead for half-term or summer dates makes it easier to find a slot that suits the timetable.

Nearby towns we also list for revolving doors (straight-line distance): Cleethorpes (1.8 miles), Louth (14.0 miles), Scunthorpe (23.8 miles).

What to think about for revolving doors in Grimsby

  • Automatic revolving doors need power to the canopy and links to the fire alarm and access control. Plan cable routes before ceilings are closed in.
  • A revolving door needs a flat, level floor and often a recess for the bottom bearing and mat. Check whether the existing slab can be cut, or whether the floor needs building up.
  • Plan the pass door first. Wheelchair users, pushchairs and deliveries need an accessible powered door beside the drum, and it should be easy to find from the street in Grimsby, with clear signs.
  • The fire strategy decides how people will escape. Agree with your fire risk assessor where the pass door and other exits will be before the revolving door is designed.
  • Revolving doors with curved glass drum walls have longer lead times. Allow for them in any refurbishment programme across Lincolnshire, and confirm dates before booking floor layers or shopfitters.

Standards and rules in England

Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.

In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

How it works

  1. Start with a short enquiry. Use the form, phone or email. Tell us whether the work is a new door, an upgrade or an opener for a home, and we arrange the next step for your site in Grimsby.
  2. Measured survey. The free survey confirms what will fit and what the entrance needs: opening width, door type, activation, safety sensors and behaviour on power loss or fire alarm, matched to how the building is used.
  3. Written price, no surprises. A fixed, itemised quote sets out the specification, the work involved, the expected lead time and the warranty terms. You can ask questions or change the specification before accepting it.
  4. Installed and commissioned. The door is installed with as little disruption as possible, then set up and tested for its hazard zones. Before leaving, the engineer explains the controls and hands over the documents for your records.

Revolving doors in Grimsby: questions

Is the survey for a revolving door in Grimsby free?

Yes. For a new revolving door and pass door, the survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. We look at the space, structure, floor, traffic and fire strategy, then send drawings and a fixed, itemised written quote. Each item is listed separately, which makes it easy to compare with other quotes.

What do you charge for revolving doors in Grimsby?

Our guide is £29,995 to £59,995 excluding VAT (per automatic door), the same guide prices we use across the UK. The free site survey in Grimsby confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

Can our reception in Grimsby stay open during installation?

Usually, if there is a second entrance or the pass door can be fitted first. We stage the work so the building stays secure overnight and visitors are directed clearly. Where the revolving door is the only way in, we discuss weekend or out-of-hours working, with any extra cost shown in the quote.

Who services a revolving door in Grimsby after installation?

We can, with each visit priced in writing before an engineer attends. Revolving doors should have their safety sensors, stop buttons and wing edges checked by a trained engineer at least once a year, and busy entrances usually need more frequent visits. Staff should also make simple daily checks and keep a record.

Can installation in Grimsby happen outside opening hours?

Yes. Many shops, surgeries and offices prefer work early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends, when the entrance is quietest. Tell us your constraints when you enquire and they are built into the plan. Any extra cost for out-of-hours work is shown in the written quote rather than added afterwards.

Is there a warranty on revolving doors?

Yes. The warranty terms for the equipment and the installation are set out in your written quote, so you can see exactly what is covered before you accept. Keeping the door serviced at the recommended intervals helps keep it in good order, and the quote explains any conditions that apply to the warranty.

Which building regulations apply to a new automatic entrance in Grimsby?

In England the guidance is Approved Document M (Volume 2) for access, Approved Document B for fire safety and escape routes, and Approved Document K for glazing and powered doors. A new entrance can count as building work, so building control should be involved before it is ordered.
