Covering Newtown and nearby
We cover the whole of the SY16 postcode district, along with nearby towns in Powys. You book each visit for home automatic door openers directly with us, and a specialist automatic door engineer working under our management travels to your site on the agreed date.
Parking on a busy high street can be tight. When work is booked in Newtown, the engineer's arrival is planned around loading restrictions, any market days and opening hours, so the visit causes as little disruption as possible.
Nearby towns we also list for home automatic door openers (straight-line distance): Welshpool (11.8 miles), Oswestry (26.0 miles), Shrewsbury (26.6 miles).
What to think about for home automatic door openers in Newtown
- Think about who else uses the door. Carers, family and delivery drivers may need a fob, a key or an intercom, and the controls should be set up with all of them in mind.
- Children and pets may need extra thought. Controls can be placed out of reach, and a safety sensor added where little ones often play near the door.
- Power is usually taken from a nearby socket or a fused spur. If there is no socket near the door, an electrician may need to add one, which we can include in the quote.
- Terraced houses and flats in Newtown often have narrow hallways. The survey checks where the door swings, so it does not catch a wheelchair, a radiator or someone standing behind it.
- Plan for a power cut. The door opens by hand without power, and a battery back-up can keep the opener working for a while if that matters to you.
Home automatic door openers in Newtown: guide prices
The site survey is free, including the measured drawing and a fixed, itemised written quote. Guide price: typically £1,495 to £2,995 inc VAT.
| Item | Guide price | Notes |
|---|---|---|

Prices include VAT at 20%. If you are eligible for VAT relief as a disabled person, the installation work may be zero-rated under HMRC rules; we will tell you on the quote if we think it applies and ask you to sign an eligibility declaration. Your council (or, in Northern Ireland, the Housing Executive) can sometimes help with the cost through a grant, but it must be approved before work starts.
Grants, VAT relief and safety in Wales
Some work and equipment for disabled people can qualify for VAT relief where HM Revenue and Customs’ conditions are met; we will tell you on the quote if we think it may apply.
In Wales, a Disabled Facilities Grant of up to £36,000 can help with adaptations that make a home easier to get in and out of. Grants are means-tested and must be approved by the council before work starts, so check with your council whether a powered door opener could be included.
How it works
- Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for home automatic door openers and book a survey in Newtown.
- Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
- Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
- Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.
Whether it is one door or several, start with a free home survey in Newtown. Your quote will include VAT and set out the warranty terms.
Home automatic door openers in Newtown: questions
Do you fit automatic door openers to homes in Newtown?
Yes. We arrange free home surveys and installations in Newtown through specialist automatic door engineers working under our management. We look at the door and how it will be used, then send a fixed written quote with prices including VAT. Nothing goes ahead until you accept it.
What is the guide price for home automatic door openers in Newtown?
Our guide is £1,495 to £2,995 including VAT (per door), the same guide prices we use across the UK. The free site survey in Newtown confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Can the opener in Newtown be linked to our doorbell or intercom?
Often, yes. Many households link the opener to a video doorbell or intercom so the person indoors can see who is there and open the door from their chair or bed. We check what you already have at the survey and explain the options.
Who do we contact if the opener stops working in Newtown?
Contact us. We can arrange a repair visit, and you agree the visit price before an engineer comes. If the fault is covered by the warranty terms in your quote, we tell you before anything is arranged. In the meantime the door can be used by hand.
What does the written quote for home automatic door openers in Newtown include?
The quote lists each item separately: the door or equipment, installation, electrical connections where we provide them, removal of anything being replaced, testing and handover. It is a fixed price for the work described, so it does not change unless the scope changes, and any change is agreed with you in writing first.
What happens once the installation in Newtown is finished?
The engineer tests every function, including the safety sensors and the behaviour on power loss, and sets the door up with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown how to use the controls and which simple checks to make, and you receive the handover documents, including the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.
Can a home in Newtown get help paying for a door opener?
Possibly. In Wales a Disabled Facilities Grant of up to £36,000 can fund adaptations that make it easier to get in and out of a home. Grants are means-tested and must be approved by the council before work starts.
