What to think about for home automatic door openers in Caerphilly
- Bungalows and ground-floor flats in Caerphilly often have a back or patio door onto the garden. Automating that door as well can make a big difference to everyday independence.
- If the door faces the weather, as many exposed front doors in Caerphilly do, the opener has to cope with wind. The survey looks at how sheltered the door is and sets the opener to suit.
- Plan for a power cut. The door opens by hand without power, and a battery back-up can keep the opener working for a while if that matters to you.
- Terraced houses and flats in Caerphilly often have narrow hallways. The survey checks where the door swings, so it does not catch a wheelchair, a radiator or someone standing behind it.
- Power is usually taken from a nearby socket or a fused spur. If there is no socket near the door, an electrician may need to add one, which we can include in the quote.

Grants, VAT relief and safety in Wales
A door opener at home should still let the door be opened by hand and lock securely. We set the opening speed and force for the people living there and show everyone how it works.
In Wales, a Disabled Facilities Grant of up to £36,000 can help with adaptations that make a home easier to get in and out of. Grants are means-tested and must be approved by the council before work starts, so check with your council whether a powered door opener could be included.
