What to think about for home automatic door openers in Paignton
- If the door faces the weather, as many exposed front doors in Paignton do, the opener has to cope with wind. The survey looks at how sheltered the door is and sets the opener to suit.
- Older timber front doors in Paignton can be heavy or swell in wet weather. Easing or rehanging the door before the opener goes on makes it run better and last longer.
- Choose the control around the person using the door. A wristband or wheelchair switch is often easier than a small fob for someone with limited grip.
- Bungalows and ground-floor flats in Paignton often have a back or patio door onto the garden. Automating that door as well can make a big difference to everyday independence.
- Terraced houses and flats in Paignton often have narrow hallways. The survey checks where the door swings, so it does not catch a wheelchair, a radiator or someone standing behind it.

Your council (or, in Northern Ireland, the Housing Executive) can sometimes help with the cost through a grant, but it must be approved before work starts.
Grants, VAT relief and safety in England
A door opener at home should still let the door be opened by hand and lock securely. We set the opening speed and force for the people living there and show everyone how it works.
Some work and equipment for disabled people can qualify for VAT relief where HM Revenue and Customs’ conditions are met; we will tell you on the quote if we think it may apply.
How it works
- Describe what you need. Whether the job is home automatic door openers for a busy entrance or for a single internal door, a brief description and some photos let us understand it and plan a survey visit in Paignton.
- Free visit to the site. An engineer working under our management assesses the opening, the existing door and frame, the floor and the electrical supply, and notes any access, consent or timing issues to plan around.
- Your fixed quotation. The quote is fixed for the work it describes and lists each item, including any removal, making good and electrical work. It also states the lead time, the payment stages and the warranty terms.
- Fitting and sign-off. Work goes ahead on dates agreed with you. Once fitted, the door is adjusted and its safety functions are tested and recorded with reference to BS EN 16005, and you are shown how to use it.
Tell us which door is causing problems and who uses it, and we will arrange a free visit to your home in Paignton at a time that suits you.
Home automatic door openers in Paignton: questions
How long does fitting take at a house in Paignton?
Most single doors take about a day, and a front door with an electric lock may take a little longer. The lead time is typically 2 to 4 weeks after you accept the quote, and we agree a fitting date that suits you and your carers.
Can you give me a price for home automatic door openers in Paignton?
Our guide is £1,495 to £2,995 including VAT (per door), the same guide prices we use across the UK. The free site survey in Paignton confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Will the home survey in Paignton cost anything?
No. The home survey is free and there is no obligation. We look at the door, lock, frame and power, talk to the person who will use the opener, and send a fixed written quote afterwards. As a home customer you also have cancellation rights, which are set out with the quote.
Do you fit automatic door openers to homes in Paignton?
Yes. We arrange free home surveys and installations in Paignton through specialist automatic door engineers working under our management. We look at the door and how it will be used, then send a fixed written quote with prices including VAT. Nothing goes ahead until you accept it.
What is the lead time for home automatic door openers in Paignton?
Lead times depend on the door type and what has to be made to order. As a guide, operators and accessible door kits are typically two to four weeks from order, and complete sliding entrances typically four to eight weeks from drawing approval. Curved, revolving and hermetic doors usually take longer. The expected lead time is stated in your quote.
What should I send before the survey in Paignton?
A few photos of the door from inside and outside, rough measurements of the opening, the address and a note of how the entrance is used. If the door already has an operator, a photo of any label on it helps. With that, the engineer arrives prepared, the survey takes less of your time and we can put the quote for home automatic door openers together more easily.
Can a home in Paignton get help paying for a door opener?
Possibly. In England a Disabled Facilities Grant of up to £30,000 can fund adaptations that make it easier to get in and out of a home. It is means-tested and must be approved by the council before work starts, so ask your council and occupational therapist.
