What to think about for hermetic sliding doors in Newton Abbot
- Private hospitals, veterinary practices and dental surgeries in Newton Abbot sometimes need hermetic doors for treatment rooms too. The same survey and specification process applies, scaled to the room.
- Infection control rules in hospitals across Devon usually require screening, dust control and permits for work in clinical areas. Share your procedures at survey so they are built into the programme.
- Choose finishes that stand up to the cleaning regime at your site in Newton Abbot. Stainless steel and high-pressure laminate cope with strong disinfectants, but check the chemicals your cleaning team uses first.
- Interlocked doors need clear logic. Decide with your engineers which door has priority, how staff override the interlock in an emergency and what the status lights should show.
- Labs and cleanrooms in Newton Abbot often have modular wall panels. Frame details must match the panel system, so involve the cleanroom contractor before the door is ordered.

Standards and rules in England
BS EN 16005 is the current standard for the safety in use of powered pedestrian doors, and BS 7036-0:2014 is the British code of practice for risk assessment and risk reduction used alongside it. Standards are not law in themselves, but they are the recognised benchmark for showing an automatic door is safe to use, and we set up, test and document doors with reference to them.
Glass in and beside doors must be safety glass or protected where people could walk into it, and clear glass needs markings in two bands, 850 mm to 1000 mm and 1400 mm to 1600 mm above the floor (Approved Document K).
How it works
- Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for hermetic sliding doors and book a survey in Newton Abbot.
- Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
- Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
- Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.

Hermetic sliding doors in Newton Abbot: questions
Is the survey for a hermetic door in Newton Abbot free?
Yes, for a new hermetic door the survey is free and there is no obligation. We measure the opening, check the wall and floor, discuss seals, finishes, activation and interlocks with your team, then send drawings and a fixed, itemised written quote.
Is there a guide price for hermetic sliding doors in Newton Abbot?
Our guide starts from £8,995 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Newton Abbot confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Can you supply lead-lined hermetic doors in Newton Abbot?
Yes. Lead-lined leaves and frames are made to the lead equivalence your radiation protection adviser specifies, with the same seals, finishes and touch-free activation as other hermetic doors. The extra weight is allowed for in the operator and the fixings.
Can you work within our infection control procedures in Newton Abbot?
Yes. Work in clinical and cleanroom areas is planned around your permits, screening and dust control requirements, and around room shutdowns. Share your procedures at the survey and we will build them into the method statement and the programme for the installation.
What power supply is needed for hermetic sliding doors in Newton Abbot?
Most powered doors need a fused spur close to the operator, and some activation and access control devices also need a low-voltage link. The survey checks what is already there. If a new supply is required, the quote says whether we arrange it or your own electrician does, so nothing is left unclear on the day.
Is there a warranty on hermetic sliding doors?
Yes. The warranty terms for the equipment and the installation are set out in your written quote, so you can see exactly what is covered before you accept. Keeping the door serviced at the recommended intervals helps keep it in good order, and the quote explains any conditions that apply to the warranty.
Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Newton Abbot?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 the responsible person for the premises must make sure escape routes work and fire safety equipment is maintained. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, set by the fire strategy.
