What to think about for curved automatic doors in Merthyr Tydfil
- Curved doors on landmark buildings in Merthyr Tydfil are often lit at night. Plan canopy lighting, signage and any warm air curtain alongside the door, so cables and fixings are in place before the glass goes in.
- Hotel entrances in Merthyr Tydfil see bursts of arrivals with luggage and coach parties. Choose a diameter and clear opening that let several people and cases pass together without waiting for a second cycle.
- A full-round door needs a roof or canopy that can be supported and drained. On exposed sites across Mid Glamorgan, think about how rainwater will leave the canopy without running down the glass into the threshold.
- Curved entrances in Merthyr Tydfil are often installed during a wider refurbishment. Working with the main contractor on dates, power and protection of the finished floor helps the door go in once, without return visits.
- Busy entrances with curved floor guides collect grit from the street. A good matwell and regular cleaning of the guide channels keep the leaves running smoothly around the arc.

Standards and rules in Wales
In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.
Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers in Wales must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, which can include altering a physical feature such as a heavy entrance door. New entrances and some alterations count as building work, so check with building control before the work is ordered.
How it works
- Tell us about the entrance. Send the address, a few photos and a rough size of the opening, and say how the door is used. That is enough for us to suggest options for curved automatic doors and book a survey in Merthyr Tydfil.
- Free site survey. A specialist engineer working under our management measures the opening, checks the frame, floor, head height and power, and talks through how people use the entrance. There is no charge and no obligation.
- Fixed written quote. You receive a fixed, itemised written quote with the specification, lead time, payment stages and warranty terms. The price does not change unless the scope does, and any change is agreed in writing first.
- Installation and handover. The door is fitted on the agreed dates, then set up, tested and documented with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown the controls and the simple checks to make, and receive the handover paperwork.
To replace a tired entrance in Merthyr Tydfil with a curved door, tell us the width, the depth available in front of the building and how busy it gets.
Curved automatic doors in Merthyr Tydfil: questions
Is the site survey for a curved door in Merthyr Tydfil free?
Yes. For a new curved entrance, the survey costs nothing and carries no obligation. The engineer measures the frontage, checks the structure, floor and power, and discusses the options with you. You then receive drawings and a fixed, itemised written quote.
What price range should I expect for curved automatic doors in Merthyr Tydfil?
Our guide starts from £14,995 excluding VAT (per entrance), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Merthyr Tydfil confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Will we need planning permission for a curved entrance in Merthyr Tydfil?
Possibly. A curved door that changes the look of the frontage or projects beyond the building line may need planning permission, and listed buildings may need listed building consent. Your local planning authority decides. We raise the question at survey and can supply drawings and product details for an application.
Do you install curved automatic doors in Merthyr Tydfil?
Yes. We arrange half-round, full-round and segmental curved doors for buildings in Merthyr Tydfil and across Mid Glamorgan. The survey, installation and commissioning are carried out by specialist automatic door engineers working under our management, and we remain the contracting party from the first drawing to handover.
What do you need from us for parking and access in Merthyr Tydfil?
Somewhere for the engineer's van as close to the entrance as possible, and a clear working area around the door. If parking is restricted, loading rules apply or the site has security procedures, tell us when you book. Those details go into the plan so the visit is not held up on the day.
What is the lead time for curved automatic doors in Merthyr Tydfil?
Lead times depend on the door type and what has to be made to order. As a guide, operators and accessible door kits are typically two to four weeks from order, and complete sliding entrances typically four to eight weeks from drawing approval. Curved, revolving and hermetic doors usually take longer. The expected lead time is stated in your quote.
Do businesses in Merthyr Tydfil have to fit automatic doors?
There is no blanket requirement. Service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people under the Equality Act 2010, and Welsh building regulations guidance expects entrances that are easy to open. An automatic door is a common way to meet both.
