Covering Sale and nearby

From shops and surgeries to schools, care homes and private houses, any building in the M33 postcode district can be covered for automatic swing doors. Specialist engineers working under our management carry out the work, and you deal with us as the contracting party from start to finish.

Health centres, GP surgeries and clinics around Sale need doors that open gently and stay open long enough for patients using walking aids or wheelchairs. Low-energy operators, push pads and careful sensor set-up matter more here than sheer speed.

Nearby towns we also list for automatic swing doors (straight-line distance): Stretford (1.7 miles), Urmston (2.0 miles), Altrincham (2.8 miles), Eccles (4.0 miles), Irlam (4.2 miles), Salford (4.5 miles).

What to think about for automatic swing doors in Sale

  • Schools in Sale often prefer installation during half-term or the summer holidays. Operators are typically 2 to 4 weeks from order, so book the survey a few weeks before the break.
  • Doors that open into a corridor can strike people approaching from the side. Guard rails or extra sensors may be needed where the swing area meets a busy route.
  • Double doors with rebated meeting edges need operators that open and close in sequence. The engineer sets this up so the leaves never clash or leave a gap when closed.
  • Fire doors need care. The operator must suit the door, keep its fire performance intact and close the door when the alarm sounds, so have the door's labels and records to hand for the survey.
  • Check the hinges first. Older doors in Sale often have worn hinges that would fail under an operator, so the survey may recommend heavier hinges or pivots.

Standards and rules in England

In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking. Workplace law (the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992) expects powered doors to have suitable and effective features to stop them trapping anyone and, where needed for safety, to open by hand unless they open automatically if the power fails. Doors at work must also be kept in efficient working order under a suitable system of maintenance.

Building regulations guidance in England (Approved Document M, Volume 2) says a powered opening system should be used where a self-closing entrance door would need more than 30 N at the leading edge to open, or more than 22.5 N between 30° and 60°, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.

How it works

  1. Send photos and the address. A few pictures of the door from both sides, the address in Sale and a note of who uses the entrance help us understand the job before anyone visits the site.
  2. No-cost survey on site. We arrange a survey at a time that suits the building. The engineer records measurements, fixings and power, plus any constraints such as listed status, opening hours or access for deliveries.
  3. Itemised quote to approve. We price every element of the work on automatic swing doors separately in a written quote that you can check, share and approve. Lead time and payment stages are stated, and nothing is ordered until you accept.
  4. Fit, test and hand over. On the agreed dates the engineer installs the equipment, commissions the operator and tests each safety function. You get a demonstration, the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.

For corridor, office or school doors in Sale, send us photos and door sizes and we will plan the right swing operators.

Automatic swing doors in Sale: questions

What paperwork do we get for automated doors in Sale?

You receive the test record, a site-specific risk assessment, user instructions and the conformity paperwork for each door. When an existing manual door is motorised, whoever does it may take on the manufacturer's duties for the finished door, so the Declaration of Conformity and instructions are handed over at the end of the job.

How are prices worked out for automatic swing doors in Sale?

Our guide starts from £2,495 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Sale confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.

How quickly can a swing operator be fitted in Sale?

Operators for existing doors are typically 2 to 4 weeks from order. On site, a single door usually takes half a day to a day, and a pair about a day. We can plan work for evenings, weekends or holidays where the building is busy, with any extra cost shown in the quote.

Can our existing doors in Sale be automated?

Usually, if the doors, hinges and frames are in good condition. The survey checks the door weight, the hinges, what the operator will fix to and what sits in the swing path. Where a door is too worn, we will say so and quote a new doorset with the operator fitted instead.

Do you service doors in Sale after installing them?

Yes. We recommend a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer's instructions and how heavily the door is used; busy doors are often serviced more often. Servicing can follow on from the installation, with the price agreed in writing and a record left after every visit.

Is there a warranty on automatic swing doors?

Yes. The warranty terms for the equipment and the installation are set out in your written quote, so you can see exactly what is covered before you accept. Keeping the door serviced at the recommended intervals helps keep it in good order, and the quote explains any conditions that apply to the warranty.

Do businesses in Sale have to fit automatic doors?

No law says every building must have automatic doors. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers and employers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, and building regulations guidance in England calls for a powered door where an entrance door would otherwise be too heavy to open. An automatic door is often the simplest way to meet both.
