Covering Cardiff and nearby
Homes, businesses and public buildings throughout the CF10, CF11, CF14, CF15, CF23 and CF24 postcode districts can arrange automatic internal doors with us. We are the contracting party and organise every visit; the engineer, who works under our management, travels in to Cardiff for the job rather than working from premises in town.
Access in a city centre needs planning. Loading bays, permit parking, pedestrianised streets and delivery windows all affect when an engineer can unload, so a visit to Cardiff is booked around them and any restrictions are noted in advance.
Nearby towns we also list for automatic internal doors (straight-line distance): Penarth (2.9 miles), Caerphilly (6.7 miles), Barry (7.1 miles), Risca (9.5 miles), Newport (10.8 miles), Pontypridd (10.9 miles).
What to think about for automatic internal doors in Cardiff
- Check the fire rating of each door before the survey. Fire doors need operators made for them, and fixings and cables must not weaken the rating.
- Care homes in Cardiff often have residents with dementia. Think about which doors should open freely and which should be controlled, and agree that as a care decision before choosing controls.
- Schools and colleges in Cardiff often prefer corridor work in the holidays. Book the survey early in the term before, so doors and operators can be ordered and delivered in time.
- Noise matters on wards and in bedrooms. Ask for night settings or quieter operators on doors near where people sleep, and check how loud any electric locks are when they release.
- Infection control rules may set what materials and controls can be used. Wipe-clean surfaces and sealed switches that stand up to cleaning products are worth specifying.

Standards and rules in Wales
Whoever motorises a manual door, or builds an automatic door from separate parts, may take on the manufacturer’s legal duties for the finished door: a risk assessment, a technical file kept available for the authorities, a Declaration of Conformity, the conformity marking and instructions. You receive the Declaration of Conformity and the instructions at handover. In Great Britain a new or converted powered door must meet the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 before it is first used, and can carry the UKCA or the CE marking.
Wales has its own building regulations guidance. Approved Document M (Wales) uses a lower opening-force limit than England, 20 N at the leading edge, before a powered door is called for, and expects external doors used by the public in new buildings to give at least 1000 mm of effective clear width.
How it works
- Start with a short enquiry. Use the form, phone or email. Tell us whether the work is a new door, an upgrade or an opener for a home, and we arrange the next step for your site in Cardiff.
- Measured survey. The free survey confirms what will fit and what the entrance needs: opening width, door type, activation, safety sensors and behaviour on power loss or fire alarm, matched to how the building is used.
- Written price, no surprises. A fixed, itemised quote sets out the specification, the work involved, the expected lead time and the warranty terms. You can ask questions or change the specification before accepting it.
- Installed and commissioned. The door is installed with as little disruption as possible, then set up and tested for its hazard zones. Before leaving, the engineer explains the controls and hands over the documents for your records.

Automatic internal doors in Cardiff: questions
Can you fit automatic doors in a school in Cardiff?
Yes. Corridor fire doors, dining halls and doors to accessible facilities are common. We usually plan the work for school holidays or after hours, and agree the programme with the school in writing so safeguarding and fire arrangements are maintained throughout.
Can you give me a price for automatic internal doors in Cardiff?
Our guide starts from £1,795 excluding VAT (per door), the same guide price we use across the UK. The free site survey in Cardiff confirms the price as a fixed, itemised written quote, and the guide price tool gives you a range before anyone visits.
Can you service the internal doors in Cardiff after fitting?
Yes. We can arrange planned servicing with each door's operator, sensors and fire alarm release checked and a written record left. Servicing is chargeable, and the price per visit is agreed in writing before an engineer attends. Visits can be grouped so several doors are done together.
How disruptive is the work in an occupied building in Cardiff?
Usually less than people expect. Most swing operators take half a day to a day per door, and sliding doors a little longer. We plan the order of work to keep routes open, control dust, and agree any out-of-hours working in the quote.
What happens once the installation in Cardiff is finished?
The engineer tests every function, including the safety sensors and the behaviour on power loss, and sets the door up with reference to BS EN 16005. You are shown how to use the controls and which simple checks to make, and you receive the handover documents, including the test record and any conformity paperwork that applies to the work.
Do you service doors in Cardiff after installing them?
Yes. We recommend a trained engineer checks the safety functions at least once a year, with service intervals set by the manufacturer's instructions and how heavily the door is used; busy doors are often serviced more often. Servicing can follow on from the installation, with the price agreed in writing and a record left after every visit.
Who is responsible for automatic doors on escape routes in Cardiff?
The responsible person under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Automatic doors on an escape route need fail-safe opening or break-out, and sliding or revolving doors must not be used for exits specifically intended as emergency exits.
